Title: Taalo's music. Post by: Vasaka on December 01, 2010, 09:36:13 am With music for any game based on Star Control 2 Problem should not be. All the music in MOD format and the track can easily modify. You can simply replace a sample modern sounding. But if someone wants to add a race, there is a question where to take music?
In my project will Taalo, and I think I found a great track for them. I ask all to evaluate: http://mosc.bursa.ru/music/Taalo_Shake-It.rar (http://mosc.bursa.ru/music/Taalo_Shake-It.rar) Title: Re: Taalo's music. Post by: Alvarin on December 01, 2010, 09:59:39 am I don't know about "best", as haven't heard other candidates, but this specific tune should work well with what the Taalo should be.
Title: Re: Taalo's music. Post by: Admiral Zeratul on December 02, 2010, 03:51:11 am This is excellent! Is it an original composition? I'm not sure about the accuracy of whatever translation software you are using, but what do you mean you "found" the track?
Title: Re: Taalo's music. Post by: Vasaka on December 02, 2010, 04:38:17 am I have a friend which writes electronic music and it has a big collection of compositions collected it is not known where within twenty years.
When I was at it on a visit last time, I have copied to myself all folder with music and slowly it I assort. Basically there there is nothing interesting, but here such musical masterpieces sometimes come across! When I have found out this composition, I have thought, that it very precisely is sustained in stylistics of those compositions which were in Star Control 2. It even has been written at the same time, in 1991. Then I have decided, that I will necessarily use it in the project for one of races which does not have music. The choice has fallen at once on Taalo. When I listen to it at me the impression is created, that it has been written for them though it is final not so. Simply it very much approaches Taalo as it seems to me. I have decided not to hide it, and to share with all. Suddenly too it is required to someone. Title: Re: Taalo's music. Post by: Angelfish on December 03, 2010, 10:38:49 pm I like it :). Though I think it should use less of the instruments from the yehat music, becuase right now this song reminds me too much of the yehat music :P.
Title: Re: Taalo's music. Post by: Neonlare on December 04, 2010, 05:39:08 am I've come back from the Void to say this is pretty amazing. Your friend needs to do more of this music D:.
What other songs did he do? Looking for something decent for the Fjorn race I made yoinks ago :3. Title: Re: Taalo's music. Post by: Vasaka on December 04, 2010, 09:28:27 am This arrangement does not use Yehat samples. There is a similar, but none the same.
I know that this is not written by my friend. Just had a very large collection of music collected over twenty years. Where he took it, I do not know. Maybe he himself does not remember where it came from him. And I unfortunately do not know who the author of this song. I would like to find him, but I do not know how. This magic music. I really like it. :) Title: Re: Taalo's music. Post by: Novus on December 04, 2010, 11:55:45 am Maybe he himself does not remember where it came from him. And I unfortunately do not know who the author of this song. I would like to find him, but I do not know how. That's easy. ;) The song is shake it - stage4 (http://amp.dascene.net/analyzer2.php?idx=66815) by Magnus Hieronymus, a.k.a. Peachy (http://amp.dascene.net/detail.php?detail=modules&view=5689) (currently in Haujobb (http://haujobb.scene.org/); personal home page (http://www.lepeach.de/)), used in the Megademo-Preview (http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=4310) by groups Action (http://www.pouet.net/groups.php?which=896) and Vamps (http://www.pouet.net/groups.php?which=1477).Your copy is for some reason apparently missing four bytes at the end of each sample (bad rip?) compared to the copy at AMP, but the difference is probably not audible. Title: Re: Taalo's music. Post by: Novus on December 13, 2010, 11:36:53 am wait... i have a more or less related question how do i open a "RAR" or "MOD" file. To unpack a RAR (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAR) archive, you need an unpacker such as 7-Zip (http://www.7-zip.org/). To play a module (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Module_file), you need a media player that supports the format. I recommend a player specifically designed for modules, such as MODPlug Player (http://www.modplug.com/).Title: Re: Taalo's music. Post by: ziper1221 on December 13, 2010, 10:19:58 pm I like it, although I dont know how it fits with the taalo because we dont know much canon stuff about them.
Title: Re: Taalo's music. Post by: Duranki on December 13, 2010, 10:35:17 pm This is great! Totally has that Star Control II 'sound.' Don't see how it sounds like the Yehat music? I like how the tune starts out a bit sad or soulful; very fitting, since the Taalo are a 'dead' race.
