Title: Forum stats
Post by: Death 999 on January 22, 2011, 02:55:21 am
Lukipela and I are the two most prolific posters, accounting for nearly 12 % of all posts.
Throw in meep-eep and Novus, and the four of us account for 1/5 of the posts on this forum.

The rest of the top 10 posters - Deus_Siddis, FalconWMC, Deep_Jiffa, Draxas, Chrispy, and Zeep-Eep, bring us up to 31%
Another 7 posters bring us to 40%: Culture20, Halleck, Alvarin, guesst, DEFIANT, serosis, and JonoPorter
Another 10 posters brings us up to 50%. 27 of us all told.
17 more to reach 60%
30 more to reach 70% - that's 74 so far. These posters have written 140-250 posts or so.
62 more to reach 80, for a total of 136 users contributing at least 60 posts.
After this, things fall off. To reach 90% we need to add in nearly 300 users.
An additional 1600 users writing 13 posts or fewer account for the other 10% of activity.

What of fellas who've deleted their accounts? Are their posts still in the forum total?

As far as I can tell, posts from deleted accounts remain, but count as posts by unregistered users.

It's interesting to note that the top 4 all have different interests and can hence account for a much larger part of the traffic to individual boards. The percentages of each board's traffic for the top four are:

General DiscussionTechnical IssuesStarbase Café
Lukipela3.950.2411.50
Death 9994.681.904.75
meep-eep3.1811.063.94
Novus2.518.301.49

In other words, meep-eep and I account for almost 20 % of Technical Issues posts, while Lukipela barely touches that forum. Conversely, Lukipela is by far the most prolific poster in the Café (only the four of us have more posts each on all boards together than he has Starbase Café posts!).

Yeah, Nic would be up there if he still counted as a user. Combine it with his new handle, and would definitely be somewhere in the top 17 if not the top 10.

The one thing I cant figure out though is why am I fourth for time spent online while I havent made many posts? Have I been logged on over night a few too many times

Personally, I'm amazed I'm in the top 10. I'd be willing to bet a fair bit of bloat for a few of us was from SC: BEL (especially Luki!).

Interesting.

I wonder whether automatic checking of RSS feeds is counted as being online.

About the stats what I find most useful is the per-hour distribution of activity. Helps to coordinate events.
