Title: The Ur-Quan Masters-Extended Edition-Voices Included
Post by: The Guy on April 02, 2011, 04:29:49 am
Hello

I recently made a mod of UQM-Extended, to have voices on the dialogues, it worked fine, so i was wondering, what if i post it here? some people said that to install voices on that thing you´d have to link dialogues one by one. Bullshit. They're already linked, i just added the speech files and voila! Took me 2 days

Also i took the Anym's missing mycon dialogue add-on and included it in the mod, so now you'll know where´s the source of juffo-wup.
Just download and replace the file in the \The Ur-Quan Masters - Extended Edition\content\packages folder
http://www.mediafire.com/?07wwy00ccbbp3j3 (http://www.mediafire.com/?07wwy00ccbbp3j3)
Enjoy

Great work, man. We finally have voices in The UQM Extended. Too good to be true.  :)

I am anyway a Linux user, so that mod will not be useful to me. Anyway, it is great to have voices on the dialogs included. Nice work.

If you mean the extended edition itself, you're fortunately quite wrong - the source is available at
http://submedia.net/uqm/
and there is no reason it shouldn't build on linux.

If you mean the voices, well, maybe you can ask the mod creator for assistance.

Can the author help me please?

I'm confused.  If I understand correctly, UQM Extended has new content, including new dialogue and plot points that weren't in the original game (on any official port/release.)  Does this sound package have new voice work for such material, or is all of the new material presented in a way that doesn't involve talking to people?

Just random things found lying around the universe?

Answer:
Here are changes made to the UQM in UQM Extended:

- Some Gas Giant planets (e.g., Saturn but not Jupiter) have visible
rings in the coarse scan (Bugzilla Bug #602)

- PageUp and PageDown controls in the Outfit / Shipyard / Roster
screens modify fuel / crew 10 at a time (Bugzilla Bug #617)

- Add a setup menu option for gamma correction (Bugzilla Bug #977)

- Androsynth captain activating the special weapon is consistent
  with SC1 (Bugzilla Bug #444)

- Shooting the tractors on the moon makes them explode.  They still
provide zero bio data, though (Bugzilla Bug #503)

- Shofixti Glory Device vs. Pkunk resurrection plays the correct
  sounds (Bugzilla Bug #666)

- Ur-Quan fighters will attack/destroy incoming projectiles and
asteroids (just for fun, no bug attached)

- QuasiSpace map automatically adjusts the zoomlevel when entering
through the portal (Bugzilla Bug #856)

- MacOS X builds are now done via an Xcode project instead of the
custom *nix build scripts (Bugzilla Bug #1042)

- MakeReport() handles pauses on punctuation slightly more intelligently
  (Bugzilla Bug #1044)

- "Flicker" effect in coarse scan screens repaired (Bugzilla Bug
  #799)

- No longer possible to encounter random Ur-Quan ships in the
Zoq-Fot-Pik home system, like their dialogs say (Bugzilla Bug
  #759)

- Add SC2-DOS style lightning fade effects (Bugzilla Bug #1002)

- Spoken Probe coordinates (Bugzilla Bug #732)

- Show the name and value of biologicals when picked up (Bugzilla Bug #857)

- If the player ventures out into Hyperspace without rescuing the
starbase first, the Probes he encounters are much tougher

- Add a "dead" slave-shielded world and starbase @ Beta Ophiuchi I
  (047.9:887.5)

- Show the melee icon for the battlegroup chasing you in the center
of the black holes in Hyperspace

- Can explore a defunct Mother Ark the old Mrnmhrrm sphere of
  influence (Eta Bootis III-A, 067.2:286.3)

- Can discover a defunct Precursor starbase @ Alpha Centauri

- Fixed up dialogue so that the Syreen / Mycon / Sun Device plotline
  is discoverable in-game

- Liberate Fwiffo!  When the Spathi bug out and hide under their
slave shield, they take all their ships in your escort fleet with
  them

- Destroyed Zoq-Fot-Pik colony worlds (Delta Cassiopeiae I, 387.5:514.5)
                                      (Gamma Carinae I-B, 358.3:547.9)

- Starbases around all homeworlds

- Add a Syreen sphere-of-influence after rescuing their ships

- Add a Chmmr sphere-of-influence after finishing "The Process"

- Destroyed Ur-Quan(*) / Kohr-Ah(+) starbases
  + Beta Reticuli (702.0 : 529.1)
  * Metis (570.8 : 460.4)
  * Gamma Cancri (500.6 : 501.1)
  * Alpha Lentilis (462.5 : 600.0)
  + Theta Chamaeleonis (514.5 : 695.8)
  + Antares (647.9 : 754.1)

- Play the "lander full" sound instead of the normal pickup sound
when picking up bios/minerals that fill the lander's hold to max.

I was copied it from:
http://submedia.net/uqm/differences.txt (http://submedia.net/uqm/differences.txt)

The UQM Extended does not includes voices. They can be manually downloaded and installed.
No other changes are made to the UQM than those mentioned.

Hi!

Some years after playing UQM last time I'm back for another run and this extended version seems very interesting. However, I can't seem to find a 0.7.0 version, or any place saying it is compatible with the 0.7.0 version. Anyone who knows?

Lazarus on this thread.

I tried building this mod from source (`http://www.submedia.net/uqm/uqm-0.6.4-ee.tar.gz`) and it wouldn't build.

And I really want to play this.

And I'm out of ideas.

I wonder how soon someone will post with the workaround they discovered.

Would be nicer if some of the things from this build were incorporated into the main build.

Would be nicer if some of the things from this build were incorporated into the main build.

The main build's purpose is to accurately reproduce the original game (except for bugs), so it usually only takes changes that are very unobtrusive and/or can be turned off or made optional, like starmap search and net melee.

With that said, the next version will have the following changes from that list:
Quote
- PageUp and PageDown controls in the Outfit screen modifies fuel 10 at a time (Bugzilla Bug #617 (Partial) )

- Add a setup menu option for gamma correction (Bugzilla Bug #977)

- Shofixti Glory Device vs. Pkunk resurrection plays the correct sounds (Bugzilla Bug #666)

The currently released version already has the following changes:
Quote
- "Flicker" effect in coarse scan screens repaired (Bugzilla Bug #799)

- Spoken Probe coordinates (Bugzilla Bug #732)

What in the actual fuck.  I literally fixed this problem YEARS ago, but it's nowhere in the repo, not the changelogs.

Sorry about that.  I've pushed the fix to my fork on Github:

Code:
git clone https://github.com/0xDEC0DE/uqm-0.6.4-ee.git

...and build that.  I just built/ran it on Ubuntu 12.04, so it ought work for you if you got as far as you seem to from your output.

God damnit.

"No no, don't just play vanilla UQM," I said. "You'll figure it out at some point... just wait! It'll be better!"

:) This is good news though. Regardless of the fact I just beat Vanilla again, lets hope the added moddiness turns out as awesomely as I imagine it'll be.

I wasn't expecting a response at all. Out of the blue here's 0xDEC0DE. +1 sir. TY. :D

WOOT FUCK YEAH :D

Thanks for the hard work, playing it now!

any chance that in the future:

This will be updated to v.7
This will be updated to the HD version
This will include checkboxes for the time dilation, urquan 100 year timer extend, etc?
All on the mac?

Tall order maybe, but it would be awesome!
