Title: Future UQM development Post by: Boilerman on May 24, 2012, 12:42:09 am I just got done playing Project 6014, and LOVED it. I was wondering though, is UQM going to be back porting any of the graphics enhancements that are in Project 6014?
Title: Re: Future UQM development Post by: Cedric6014 on May 24, 2012, 09:00:28 am Unlikely, BUT there is an HD mod of UQM being done by many of the same people that are doing P6014.
So actually, yes. Title: Re: Future UQM development Post by: Boilerman on May 24, 2012, 10:15:22 pm Excellent! I used the HD mode playing p6014, and it ran VERY well on my iMac, which is running 10.6.8

Was that a yes or a no? ???So actually, yes. Title: Re: Future UQM development Post by: dczanik on May 24, 2012, 11:31:30 pm Defender: One of my side projects is making an Ur-Quan Masters HD remake. It would be just like Ur-Quan Masters, but could run in HD like Project 6014. Hoping to have the first version in the next 2-3 months.
I'm willing to merge the HD project with UQM if they're interested. I'd love that. But, right now, I'd like to get the art and code running well on my end before even thinking about that. It was was kinda a funny on my remark, he (Cedric6014) said no first then yes last..I found it humorous. I'm willing to merge the HD project with UQM if they're interested. I'd love that. And once the bugs are ironed out, would also like to see it incorporated into UQM. 2-3 months isn't that far off, can't wait. On topic: I am curious about how much works left on UQM till we can consider it version 1.0? I would really like to see some mods people my be holding off until code stops changing. Maybe breath new life into this game. I'm not on the dev team or anything, but UQM has been a living, breathing process for a full ten years now (if I'm not very much mistaken.) It may well hit v1.0 in another three major iterations or so, but I think that the lion's share of the work has already been done. UQM is stable and mostly complete (with the exception of a few missing bits of dialogue from the PC version, as far as I can tell.) I don't see any reason why modders would be holding off at this point. Title: Re: Future UQM development Post by: Elestan on May 27, 2012, 06:33:52 am I believe that nameable savegames is the only must-have feature for 1.0 at this point, although there is also a desire to improve the modability of the core code first. Changes already in for the next release include simplified threading, cleaned up memory and handle leaks, and C++ compatibility.
