Title: Slylandro in disguised ships Post by: alien_fan on December 10, 2012, 04:55:19 am Hello:
I was pleased with Star Control II: The Ur-Quan Masters, and I've been playing Star Control 3: Project 6014 demo (click to show/hide) Thanks, BYE. Title: Re: Slylandro in disguised ships Post by: oldlaptop on December 10, 2012, 11:05:25 pm The Slylandro and Kohr-Ah ships both appear randomly - you'll just have to fly around and hope you run into them. The Slylandro ships do use a different image if you run into them in-system.
Title: Re: Slylandro in disguised ships Post by: alien_fan on December 10, 2012, 11:41:45 pm Hello:
Thank you. It looks like what I need to do is collect a lot of RUs and build some Chmmr ships to combat what could be a lot of confrontations with the new Kohr-Ah Rath ships. There isn't much space on the ships for cargo so I need to go to planets with valuable RUs, so I'd be looking for hot stars. It's too bad I can't get Rus from the Melnorme, only gas. Using F6 seems a bit buggy maybe you know that already. The slash key in the star map seems to work a little better. If I try one that doesn't work, I find the star I'm looking for is near the one the program provided me. It looks to me that SC3 is on a smaller scale: less star systems, less aliens and less content of the game in general The fact it's been referred to as a demo version seems to confirm that suspicion. I think I misused the "Spoiler" alert. The word "spoiler" appears in brackets twice. It occurred to me that maybe I should have written the spoliing information between the two brackets. Too late now, unless you know how I can modify information I've already posted. Thanks again for answering! BYE. Title: Re: Slylandro in disguised ships Post by: oldlaptop on December 11, 2012, 12:16:46 am There should be a Modify button on your original post.
I would not suggest using Chmmr ships to fight the Kohr-Ah, others will do the job better (less damage) and cheaper. Yehat works well. There is also a way to destroy (AI only!) Kohr-Ah with ZFP Stingers. (hint: make the AI waste its battery) Title: Re: Slylandro in disguised ships Post by: alien_fan on December 11, 2012, 12:42:58 am Hello:
Try Yehat. Ok. What is AI? Yehat and especially the ZFP are a lot cheaper than Chmmrs and now that I think of it, they (Chmmrs) don't last very long. I don't know your reference to an AI battery because I don't know what AI refers to. Artificial intelligence? I know in Melee mode, you can play against the alien or you can have the computer fight for you. Is this what you're talking about? Also: Is this a smaller "demo" version compared to SC2? Or are both games about the same size in scope? Thanks oldlaptop! BYE. Title: Re: Slylandro in disguised ships Post by: oldlaptop on December 11, 2012, 01:01:22 am I mean Artificial Intelligence, yes. (in the sense that all of the alien ships that you encounter are of course being piloted by the same computer that you could choose to fight the battles for you). The AI code that pilots the Kohr-Ah ships is very wasteful of the combat batteries if you can create the right circumstances. :)
P6014 will presumably be similar in scope to SC2 once it's finished, but at the moment all the Project has released is demos, yes. Title: Re: Slylandro in disguised ships Post by: alien_fan on December 11, 2012, 02:15:25 am Hello:

What's this business about the "right circumstances"? Were you being intentionally mysterious, that this is something I should figure out for myself (purpose being it would be more fun if I figure it out myself?)? BYE. Were you being intentionally mysterious, that this is something I should figure out for myself (purpose being it would be more fun if I figure it out myself?) Exactly. Just load up a Stinger and a Marauder in Supermelee and see if you can figure it out. (There's probably Youtube videos on the topic if you'd rather not :)) Title: Re: Slylandro in disguised ships Post by: CelticMinstrel on December 13, 2012, 05:34:52 am Just as a note, I don't recommend referring to P6014 as SC3, because a) it's a fan sequel and b) there's already a game (http://www.gog.com/gamecard/star_control_3) that has that moniker.
Title: Re: Slylandro in disguised ships Post by: alien_fan on December 14, 2012, 10:09:43 pm Hello,
I understood the second part about the idea that there's already a game named Star Control 3. I don't know what you mean by "it's a fan sequel". Can you specify? Thanks. I went to Zeta Sextantis and found a rainbow world, but the Melnorme wouldn't buy it for credits, saying they already knew about it. Does that apply to all the rainbow worlds you can find in Star Control 2? Are there new ones out there? If so, where are they? I don't mind the fact that it would be a bit of a "spoiler". Speaking of spoilers, I've looked about the "crash site" and the three Shofixti circles and found absolutely nothing. Can someone tell me where I can find aliens to interact with and the crash site? Again, I don't care about it being a spoiler, I already spent a long time trying to figure it out on my own. Thanks! BYE. Title: Re: Slylandro in disguised ships Post by: alien_fan on December 14, 2012, 10:16:42 pm Hello,
I tried SuperMelee pitting the ZPF Stinger against the Kohr-Ah Rath Marauder but couldn't figure out how to defeat the Kohr-Ah. I tried as a human and as a cyborg. Someone said I can try using YouTube to discover how to defeat the Kohr-Ah with the Stinger. Can you tell me where to go/what to type to get YouTube to show me how to do it? In cyborg mode, the Stinger used the pea shooter and not the 'tongue" which inflicts a lot more damage. If that's the way to do it, it would take a while to whittle away the Kohr-Ah's strength. I remember in Star Control 2, the Spathi used a similar weapon against the Kzer-Za Ur-Quan, so maybe that's what you meant after all? BYE. Title: Re: Slylandro in disguised ships Post by: CelticMinstrel on December 15, 2012, 12:39:16 am I understood the second part about the idea that there's already a game named Star Control 3. Fan sequel means it's made by fans of the game (ie, people who really like the game); thus it's an unofficial sequel. (Note though that the actual SC3 was also made by a third party and as such may not be official either.)I don't know what you mean by "it's a fan sequel". Can you specify? Thanks. I went to Zeta Sextantis and found a rainbow world, but the Melnorme wouldn't buy it for credits, I assume it would mean that, since you probably told them about all the rainbow worlds in SC2. I'm going to assume there are probably not any more rainbow worlds out there.saying they already knew about it. Does that apply to all the rainbow worlds you can find in Star Control 2? Are there new ones out there? If so, where are they? Speaking of spoilers, I've looked about the "crash site" and the three Shofixti circles and found absolutely If I recall correctly, only one of the Shofixti circles intersects with the crash circle, and there aren't a lot of stars in the intersection. If you visit them all, in one of them you'll see a ship fleeing the system. That's the one you want. There's no need to visit every single planet; just enter the system and see if there are any ships.nothing. Can someone tell me where I can find aliens to interact with and the crash site? Title: Re: Slylandro in disguised ships Post by: alien_fan on December 15, 2012, 01:02:52 am Hello,
A bona fide sequel to SC2 would be awesome. I like P6014 but it does not have as much game to play (different aliens, stars, puzzles, etc.) as SC2. I eagerly await a finished version, as I understand this is a demo version. It's too bad there aren't more Rainbow Worlds, that's an easy way to buy a lot of info and fuel from the Melnorme. (click to show/hide) Thanks for the heads up on finding the missing Shofixti (or whatever it is I'm supposed to find). BYE. Title: Re: Slylandro in disguised ships Post by: alien_fan on December 15, 2012, 02:02:26 am Hello,
I found the aliens but not (apparently) the crash site? (click to show/hide) BYE. Title: Re: Slylandro in disguised ships Post by: CelticMinstrel on December 15, 2012, 03:05:58 pm Once you've found the Lurg, that's the system you want, so look at the planets in that system.

The basic idea is to get the Kohr-Ah AI to waste all its battery on the spinning blades, then zip in and tongue it while it's dry. This Youtube video is a good demonstration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szAlRIon7gM Title: Re: Slylandro in disguised ships Post by: alien_fan on December 15, 2012, 07:00:13 pm Hello,
OK, will do! BYE. Title: Re: Slylandro in disguised ships Post by: alien_fan on December 15, 2012, 07:23:32 pm Hello,
I tried all the conversations with the Lurg and all four planets and their moons. I did not run into any Shofixiti (or anything at all, for that matter)> What am I doing wrong? BYE. Title: Re: Slylandro in disguised ships Post by: CelticMinstrel on December 15, 2012, 07:31:19 pm Um... there should be an energy signature on one of the planets... or possibly moons... that'll trigger a cutscene, a battle, and the ending of the demo. Or maybe the battle is before that. I don't quite remember. If you already met the Lurg at a particular planet/moon, that's the one to target.
Title: Re: Slylandro in disguised ships Post by: alien_fan on December 15, 2012, 07:35:58 pm Hello,
Didn't see any energy signatures ... (click to show/hide) BYE. Title: Re: Slylandro in disguised ships Post by: alien_fan on December 15, 2012, 08:05:35 pm Hello,
Finished the demo. (click to show/hide) BYE. |
