Title: I need some biological planet locations. Post by: John Le Sway on August 15, 2013, 07:17:53 pm I have already gotten the clear spindle, allied with the spathi, got the portal spawner, maxed my thrusters and turning jets, but yet to have made any purchase to the melnorme, I guess I could use the portal spawner to catch a rainbow world, but it could risk me meeting the thraddash.
Any ideas? Title: Re: I need some biological planet locations. Post by: FakeMccoy on August 15, 2013, 07:22:02 pm What's wrong with metting the Thraddash? Thy have something useful. Besides there's hundreds of planets in SC2, and when you're in a star system only a day passes at most, just explore around and you'll find various systems with life. If you're particularly desperate just ignore systems that don't have green orbits.

The thraddash have really really powerful ships. and all I have is my flagship, 1 earthling, 1 spathi, 3 arilou, and 1 pkunk. Title: Re: I need some biological planet locations. They are only powerful against bigger ships if you don't adapt to fighting Thraddash. Smaller ships that can maneuver, especially the Arilou who can stand still and not be effected by their after-burner are good. Otherwise if you want to invest in melenorme technology that will eventually help a lot as well. The best ship for fighting them if you're not good with smaller ships would be some ships you can get by looking in the upper-right part of the galaxy, though you'll have to find out exactly what's going on for yourself. Thraddash ships are very powerful (and incredibly annoying), but only when flown by a human. Depending on what kind of shape your flagship is in (turning jets are helpful), you should be able to destroy AI Thraddash with that. There are tables of planets by mineral/bio richness on the Ultronomicon, but you really shouldn't look at them (joy of exploration and that kind of thing :)). There are some rich systems to the "southwest" of Sol on the starmap, outside of Ilwrath territory. Title: Re: I need some biological planet locations. Post by: Death 999 on August 15, 2013, 10:49:52 pm You may also have some luck with the cruiser. It's not as dominant a matchup as vs the Druuge, but if you sit still you can maintain a good damage ratio.
Title: Re: I need some biological planet locations. Post by: Rapajez on August 16, 2013, 01:47:01 am A lot of the alien races will give you clues about where to find Rainbow Worlds. Both the homeworld leaders and the random starship pilots. Each one of those you locate (just scan) is worth a lot of Melnorme credits.
If you have the portal spawner already, you should be able to talk to the Arilu about helping the "pet" they gave to the Umgah. That's also an opertunity for a ton of credits, without hunting lifeforms. In case you didn't know, you can use the Caster to call the Melnorme to you, anytime from Hyperspace. Good luck! Post by: CelticMinstrel on August 16, 2013, 04:27:05 pm There are several planets with life in the Centauri constellation, right near Sol, so you could try exploring all of those planets. (Don't bother with Alpha Centauri, it's too hot.) I can't really give you advice on fighting the Thraddash, since I generally just mow them down with my flagship...
the Arilou who can stand still and not be effected by their after-burner Um what.Title: Re: I need some biological planet locations. Did you discover the Arilou? Their ships have no inertia and so if you just stop when the Thraddash use after burner in-front of you, you''ll be fine. Title: Re: I need some biological planet locations. Post by: CelticMinstrel on August 16, 2013, 07:14:11 pm Ah, the after-burner effect doesn't move then? I think I've always used the flagship against the Thraddash, as I already mentioned in the previous post, and I usually only use the Arilou against the Mycon. So I may have simply not noticed some quirks. :P
