Title: Are Mycon too Moldy?
Post by: Rapajez on September 05, 2013, 06:54:42 am
I was playing with a friend who used to be a fungus. When we got to the Mycon part, things became a little awkward. Can we make them less moldy, and maybe more like Elvis? Just don't want to offend any players who may be funguses...fungi? Frungy.

Ambien makes for interesting forum posts.

You'll have to email Damon, he's the one that does art.

Chenjesu are way too crystalline. I happen to contain microcrystals, and I find their portrayal offensive on account of how they willingly gave up their nature to become machines. Can we change them to being glass? I'm sure that wouldn't bother anyone.

My caterpillar friend doesn't like caterpillars to be portrayed as slave masters. Can we make the Ur-Quan less caterpillary?

I think we should make them less slave masters.

The Slylandro are represented in a racist manner when it comes to artificial intelligence. This is precisely the stuff that sets our government back into considering more conservative AI laws.

Psst.  The Slylandro are the gaseous people, "their" Probes are the AI. :P

My buddy has glass rods in his knee.  That would still be offensive.

Personally, I'm offended by how easily people get offended about fictional creations in a 20 year old video game.  The obvious solution is to stop creating works of fiction immediately, so that 20 years from now, no one will be offended by them.

Bonus points if we can put together some kind of rally to destroy all existing copies of anything fictional.  I'm thinking fire would work best.

All future video games, movies and books, etc, should be based on true stories.  Reality is never offensive, because it's true.

I think internet trolls are offensive because they are enforcing the stereotype that all real trolls have an arrogant personality, and they don't all live under a bridge either.

My blood contains iron, I find the irony in FakeMccoy posting in this thread offensive.

So does mine, II find the offensive that you ironically didn't notice the pretentiousness of my post.

Please please please, I beg of you. People are getting a renewed interest in UQM and SCII because of all the Star Dock news. If people come to these fourms and see your inane rantings, they're going to be turned off immediately. For the sake of SCII, the UQM, Project 6014, and all that is good and holy, just stop posting. I'm asking/begging politely!

Or a bunch of people could just stop trolling and there would be no real arguments for people to get "turned off" by. If people want to use actually discuss something instead of making snide or arrogant remarks and going off on rants to say things like "YOU RACIST FUCK", I think the problem would be solved pretty easily. If this forum isn't meant for discussing something in a mature manner or using rational reasoning, then maybe people shouldn't come here anyway as there are better things for them to waste time on. There's a few other places that can advertise p6014 without all the arguments.

Trolling is one person posting things that annoy the majority of the forum users. Who fits that bill here?

Someone is in troll denial.

Trolling is going somewhere on the internet to harass people and purposely trying to cause arguments. Guess who never called anyone a "RACIST FUCK" nor was ever the first in a conversation to direct snide or rude remarks at a user? I'll give you a hint: you're reading their post, and your last post on top of this thread only proves it. I don't particularly understand it, but appears that ironically the freedom of the internet makes many people slaves to their own primal emotional biases.
All people got to do is use rational reasoning and not let their "trolling instincts" ruin topics and accept that people can have views that are not theirs, that is if people actually want what they say they want, which is to not have arguments. That's it, it's that simple.

All right, this is my last attempt to explain things to you.

There's nothing wrong with having your own opinion, or arguing. The problem is when THE ONLY THING YOU DO on these forums is argue.

Locking this thread; it is not doing any good for the mood on the forum.
