Title: Crashing on Startup Post by: Milburad on December 08, 2013, 06:04:15 pm Hello,
I use Windows 8, and I recently installed Ur-Quan Masters HD at http://sourceforge.net/projects/urquanmastershd/. i ran the installer, and the game booted up and ran just fine. I had a great time playing it! But now, the second time I click on the icon on my desktop to start it up, I get the message "The Ur-Quan Masters Main Executable Has Stopped Working". I have tried this a few times now, even completely restarting my PC, and the game will not run. The game has worked on my computer once, when I downloaded the game and ran it. However, it has not worked once since then. Any help you could give me in resolving this issue would be much appreciated. Thanks. Title: Re: Crashing on Startup Post by: Defender on December 14, 2013, 03:21:01 am run as administrator perhaps?
Title: Re: Crashing on Startup Post by: onpon4 on December 14, 2013, 04:08:32 am You'll probably be able to see an error if you run it in the terminal (which Windows calls "Command Prompt"). Use the cd command to get to the directory the executable is in, and type the name of the executable.
Title: Re: Crashing on Startup Post by: mrdarklight on May 11, 2014, 11:14:09 pm I'm having this problem too. When I install it, and it runs automatically at the end, it works. But if I try to launch it again, it just shows a black screen for a minute then quits.
Windows 7 64 bit, UQM HD Beta 1. ETA: I ran as administrator and that fixed it. Thanks! Title: Re: Crashing on Startup Post by: Krulle on September 29, 2014, 10:31:02 am The planets use the same image over and over, according to a formula. Maybe it's better to get that formula from the source code and re-create it for the html web page?
Title: Re: Crashing on Startup Post by: Jugger on September 30, 2014, 06:44:59 am Though I'm not very familiar with C++, with some investigation of the code that might do.
But... in this case I would have to work with the huge tables for the mineral resources and bio data, put together all the different images with javascript (planet/moon and its surface below, their backgrounds, resource-, bio- and energy-data with all their coordinates, and so on). In other words, in this way it'll be necessary to translate the corresponding source code to javacsript for the use in html. Regrettably not easy for me compared to the indeed time-consuming but simple way of making screenshots. Well, I'll see, thanks for the hint! BTW - admins or mods: This and the last two replies belong to the subject CTD on saving in UQM HD Beta (http://forum.uqm.stack.nl/index.php?PHPSESSID=oupegn1t3rn35djn8nvbji92k7&topic=5684.0). Could you please move them over there? Also @anamta obviously forgot his/her comment, it's only a quotation of my explanation and could possibly be removed. Thx. Title: Re: Crashing on Startup Post by: Semperdrunk on March 08, 2015, 07:13:40 am I had the same problem. Running as admin as suggested got it working for me. To run as admin, hover over the icon and right click, then click "run as admin".
