I just want to see what you guys think about everyone in the SC galaxy or whatever. I mean not only the race, but their ships, their morality, their starsystems etc etc.

1)Personally, the coolest race in the whole galaxy is Kohr-Ah, I mean i don't like making confrontations with them, but come on. Look at em'! Their super bad ass black spiders that dont take crap from anyone. Man, their whole backround, like hurting themsleves to save their people. Pretty courageous. It was never revealed where they came from, cept from the Moon the Kzer-Za were born. The Dnyarri sorta created them, but I mean, so much honor involved here. Althought they kill everyone, their really awesome creatures.

2)The Lamest race in the SC galaxy in my opinion, is the Utwig. I mean, whiny depressos that think about nothing but the dumb ultron. God what a bring-down. Freakin awesome ships, which is their only plus. But thank god for the Supox or they would have killed themselves with their bomb a long time ago. The only thing their good for is their ships man.

Korh-Ah can kill anyone they want!  Korh-Ah cut off heads ALL the time and don't even think twice about it.  These guys are so crazy and awesome that they flip out ALL the time.  I heard that there was this Korh-Ah who was eating at a diner.  And when some thraddash dropped a spoon the Korh-Ah killed the whole planet.  My friend Mark said that he saw a Korh-Ah totally uppercut some spathi just because the spathi opened a window.

The coolest race is definitely the Spathi, with the Ilwrath in second and the Androsynth for their utterly awesome ships capable of decimating entire regions of space with their DEATH BUBBLES. Of course, the Melnorme rock too.

The lamest races are the Utwig (They could have been crybabies without being so danged annoying. I also hate ships with shields as the CPU whores them.), the Supox (Duh... we're plants. Yeah, that's our only gimmick.), the Arilou, and the Chmmr, for lacking class altogether.

Coolest alien race would have to be the Pkunk.  They're so spaced out and om time with the psychadelic happenings of the galaxy that they top my list.  Their Yehat brethern deserve runner-up status as the coolest Scottish birds I've ever known.

Lamest SC2 race?  Hmmm...  I dunno, I see good in most of the races and it's hard to say I don't like one in particular.  I think the Supox were lame because they had no development or true identity.  I used to think the Druuge were kinda lame, but I'm starting to appreicate their evilness as of late.  I'd put my money on the Supox.

i know its a joke but i mean what the hell. people are going to great lengths to entertain the public. i myself am easily ammused but sometimes funny goes beyond good taste. that site did get good laugh but its was after all not done in good taste. i may be 28 and out of the loop, but that stuff was funny when i was in 3rd grade. im grown now and raising 2 kids. not to say that i dont get it or im prude about f word or making (richard) jokes, hell i found jay and silent bobs movies very funny, still do. but theres a time when, well... you just gotta grow up. maybe when my kids reach that certain age ill share with them all the shit i used to do and found funny but untill then...i gotta draw the line.~DEFIANT

Awesome soldiers? Well, they might be good in hand-to-hand, but against a human their ship is not very strong.
Anyone have the numbers on how many people an Orz marine will knock off on the various ships?

hehe, i think the top i've seen is 42 or so, i launched about 3 against a dreadnought once, only one made it on, it lasted through the whole ship.

Speaking of which, I once fought a Pkunk that came back on me five times. I don't even fight Pkunk that much, so I wonder what the world record is for respawning birdies.

I always used to think that the Orz fought differently against the various races, but I think one of the dev team here said that it was a constant for all races.

On PONAF it says that there was a Pkunk that respawned 14 times or so.

I think that, theoretically, the Pkunk can come back forever,
assuming it wins the 50% chance every time it's destroyed.
The most I've ever experienced was six.

Getting back on topic, I have to concur that my favourite race is the Traddash! Their attitude is just awesome! their music is good. And that Cigar.. Classic.

As for least favourite race... Well, I'd have to go with the Pkunk. they just really annoy me.

I thought the Orz marines suffered against the Mycon on account of their inhospitible ship interiors... that or its a case of projection again. ^_^

I'm not even sure if the Thraddash can delay the Kohr-Ah at all. Where did you hear of this three month delay?

For one thing, the Thraddash do mention being shot at by their own masters after they return to their home stars. The only reason the Thraddash Torch is so powerful in the hands of the player is because the AI doesn't try to dodge the flame trails. Story-wise, the Kohr-Ah are smarter than that so the Thraddash are left with those crappy pea-shooters as their only reliable form of firepower. The Utwig and Supox on the other hand are more than capable of putting up a good fight, even against Kohr-Ah.

Actually, the Kzer-Za do shoot the Thraddash. During the fight, the Thraddash say:

We look forward to success! The way is challenging, but our Turbo-Thrusters are at 200% and our guns stand ready! We have engaged the dark ships and achieved victory! The Ur-Quan know we are here! SNORT! They see our valor!...
...unfortunately they also seem to be attacking us. We have tried to make contact with them on the usual Hyperwave bands, but to no avail. Even so, I am still quite sure that we are impressing them GREATLY!
Then later, when you ask them how it all worked out:

It was glorious, truly glorious!... for the most part. It would have been entirely glorious except for two factors.
Factor One: we lost over half our battle fleet during the two-week fracas.
Factor Two: of our casualties, only 60 percent were due to the Ur-Quan's enemy, the dark ships. SNORT! The remaining 40 percent can be attributed to the Ur-Quan themselves. We can be certain that we impressed them with at least one achievement due to the Afterburner modification, we were somewhat harder for them to kill than when they conquered us in the first place.
So there you have it.

There is no such delay in the current codebase.  The only event that buys you time against the Kohr-Ah onslaught is the Utwig/Supox intervention.  The Thraddash get bitch-slapped and run back home with no impact on that timeline.


WHAT?!!?!  How DARE you insult the powerful Mark 6 blaster like that!?  Why, with it's powerful 4 megawatt discharge, it's the ultimate in combat weaponry, a true example of the tempered perfection of Culture Nineteen!  ;D

You are free to believe whatever you like; for instance, people believe that there's a trick to getting the Pkunk to resurrect in melee, even though the code is pretty unambiguous about the fact that it's a random 50/50 chance  :)

You could do that, or you could read the script (http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/sc2/sc2/content/comm/zoqfot/zoqfot.txt?rev=1.5&content-type=text/vnd.viewcvs-markup) and see that only the Utwig/Supox mission is mentioned by them.

But any plan of action that involves playing the game more, I fully support.  :P

I dunno, whenever I hold down the SHIFT, CTRL and Up keys at the same time, stand on my head, and spin three times when I die, my Fury always seems to ressurect.  50/50 random chance my ass!   ;D  Hehe, j/k of course...

If the Thraddash do anything, it's probably just delay the war between the two sides a bit...  and when I mean a bit, I mean nothing...  I mean, the Torches get hit just as much by the Kzer-Za as the Kohr-Ah...

I always wondered why everyone thinks they can take down the Kohr-Ah. I mean, come on, you gotta face the facts once in a while. Are they totally oblivious to their massive circle of infulence, undying rage, powerful ships and the Sa-Matra? What are the Supox/Utwig/Thraddash thinkin?

The Utwig and Supox know they can't take out the Kohr-Ah. But the Utwig are guided by their Ultron to delay the Kohr-Ah as long as possible -- to give the Captain as much time as possible to do what needs to be done to take them down. It's not like they think they can win.

And as to why the Traddash attack. Well, they are Traddash. They don't actually believe that they can be defeated...

I guess delaying the eventual destruction of all life in the universe isn't helpful, huh?  When do they say they want to defeat the Kohr-Ah?  I think them at least delaying the great cleansing is a pretty practical thing to do.  Any other race would do the same...  8)

Yup. and even if it didn't work, it's betetr to go out with a bang than with a whimper. I mean, if you're gonna die anyway, you may as well go down smiling.

I know it's still a video game, but that's really not how a whole race of sentient creatures would decide things, right? I mean, you're talking about billions of beings all fighting the Kohr-Ah for the same cause. The Utwig I could understand, to a point, but what about the Supox, or even I suppose, the Thraddash.

Not really. The Supox will go anywhere the Utwig go because it's their nature to look to other species for guidance. The Thraddash are too idiotic to recognize the power of the Kohr-Ah and they've been dying to go to war ever since they became battle thralls.

yea, well i guess i'm trying to look at too broad a picture. I'm trying to picture Supox and Thraddash as humans, thereby having differing opinions from their leaders or general public. Like I still just find it hard to beleive that a whole race would think in the same mind-set. I suppose it would be the same as human-nature, but I dunno, just rambling!

When the Ultron tells 'em what to do, who are they to question it?  It's pretty well explained in the game that the Utwig attack the Kohr-Ah because the Ultron tells them to.  If I know anything about the Utwig race as a whole, it's that they would follow the Ultron's orders to the end of the universe...  and beyond.  Such belief in the device leads me to believe the entire race would be motivated to go kick some black caterpillar butt.

Which is strange since they grew up as a race without the thing. Hmm... maybe the ultron is a mechanistic parasite which tunes itself to the DNA of a species and then creates a dependency within members of that species for the ultron?

Does that mean the Utwig were the Precursor's ancient enemy?  Who else would the Precursors create such a weapon for?

Maybe some Precursors got addicted to it (or a subspecies of Precursors) and then died out.
After all, they probably didn't think of it as a weapon.  To them it might've had the same effect as drugs have on humans.  ::)
I don't remember exactly what the Starbase Cmdr says when you bring it to him... something about it attuning itself to certain wavelengths of thought and then enhancing those?

Well, this is a survey of sorts, so I'll put in my answers as well.

Favorite: Kohr-Ah. Of course. Not because they're so unstoppable, but simply because their mindset is so completely focused and even admirable. Destroy all other races without emotion (save exultation), without pity, without compassion. Just destroy.

Least Favorite: Well, it depends. For simple boredom, the Utwig of course. For simple frustration, the Dnyarri. I thought the Druuge were jerks, but the little guy... I don't think I've ever gotten so irritated at fictional character before. Tossing you two weeks out of your way each time you even look at him....grrr...

And, if you take the finished Ultron to Hayes, he'll tell you it's a Precursor device that amplifies the users' mental energies to allow them to effect subtle but helpful changes on the universe. (And that it's not useable by humans.)
