Title: Installer bug? Post by: Zee on December 02, 2002, 04:40:19 am Just downloaded the 0.1 alpha for Windows, got some strange things during install.
1) When i start the installer/when i click the "next" button, it hangs for 10-15 seconds, using 100% of processor time. 2) After it extracted files, it changed directory to "Creating temporary file" and did nothing for 3 minutes, consuming all processor time, so i killed it. It seems that not all files are installed - uninstall.exe is of wrong size and some earth mask is missing. I checked the md5, it's the same as listed in your webpage. PS: why don't you use some kind of pak-files? The installation&deinstallation would be many times faster... Title: Re: Installer bug? Post by: M-ACE on December 03, 2002, 01:43:06 am :P
The installer needs some work. 100% processor time and 10 secs for the next button to process is a little ridiculous. I know its free and I'm very grantful for it but that doesn't excuse bad coding. Title: Re: Installer bug? Post by: Chad on December 03, 2002, 02:20:23 am Just remember folks, its an A-L-P-H-A ;D
No one said it was anywhere near perfect. I'm sure the developers are using this as a "lets see where we stand with everything we have done thus far" release. Title: Re: Installer bug? Post by: Parker on December 03, 2002, 03:11:34 am Don't expect the project to use that installer again ;)
Title: Re: Installer bug? Post by: Phodid on December 05, 2002, 12:00:59 am I got the same problem...But Playing the game, and considering that most Alphas barely work, Id say they are doing a damn fine job. I always loved SC2, but my new computer cant run it...I was so happy when I went to Star-control.com to see the Alpha for this had been released. There are problems that need to be remedied, but Overall, it is amazing how far it has come.
