Title: Been a while since any news has been posted Post by: OldSkoolGamer on April 10, 2003, 08:38:01 pm I know all the programmers working on this project are busy, but there hasn't been any updates in a month. I hope they don't abandon this project. It's too important to leave incomplete.
Title: Re: Been a while since any news has been posted Post by: Chad on April 10, 2003, 08:52:00 pm Make sure you check out the ChangeLog. They are still working on it, though it does seem like a slower pace. This is just a total guess, but maybe its because all of the easiest stuff has been fixed/completed?

That's why I hope they iron out all the details soon so we can start adding simple stuff like different remixes depending on the mood of the alien race you're speaking to (ie, defeated Ur-Quan get less intimidating theme and rage-a-holic Orz music goes from cute to satanic).
Update: The alternate remix idea isn't mine. Don't give me credit if you ever mention it. I don't know if the team's pace has slowed down, but now that a lot of the bugs and major problems are nearly all fixed, its time to decide what paths the team'll take with the project... they could be done any number of roads right now. I'd suggest patience and being happy with the current release. ;D Title: Re: Been a while since any news has been posted Post by: Death 999 on April 11, 2003, 09:54:01 pm I would if it didn't crash after about ten minutes and/or had any SFX.
Wait -- Does anyone have the last 0.1 unofficial release for mac OSX? I negligently deleted mine, and that was a lot more stable than the 0.2 releases. I don't need the content, so this won't be a bandwidth hog... You're pretty wrong here. There are still a couple of big things that need to be done. One of them is the new resource system, on which I'm personally working, but it's turning into a bigger project than I had planned initially. (I might even release some of it as a seperate project when this is done.) There are various things depending on this resource system, which are in the wait (for instance the translation project, and the PC ending sequence). But there's also still plenty to do which doesn't depend on this. It's true, things are slowing down a bit. People have been taking an advance on their other work for UQM and it has now caught up with them (remember it's all done in our free time). The project is far from being abandoned though. Just be patient, and we'll get there. Title: Re: Been a while since any news has been posted Post by: chmmravatar on April 13, 2003, 09:36:20 am It's very much alive, I can vouch for this. In fact, I even posted a workaround for another bug today. Things are still active; there may not have been new "news" items on the website, but check the changelog. And there's also the IRC channel. I don't think you'll have to worry about this project being abandonded.
