Title: what's with the supox bridge? Post by: RockasaurusRex2000 on April 11, 2003, 06:53:18 am seriously, I don't get it. What's with all the white stuff all over the place, and all the doors blow out smoke and stuff...weird.

What's with all the white stuff all over the place, and all the doors blow out smoke and stuff...weird. The color white reflects light the best? Plants thrive better if the sunlight that misses them gets reflected back onto them instead of being absorbed into heat? I have to agree with Shiver. Probably a form of mist to spray out onto the Supox. Title: Re: what's with the supox bridge? Post by: Censored on April 11, 2003, 09:02:43 pm I didn't study too much Biology so I wouldn't know if that is the right thing to say, that plants thrive best if they're white. actually, I don't think there is any white plant on Earth (and I'm not counting the flower itself which varies on color to protect itself or attract insects)
you'll notice the vessel itself is green. so I think they (TFB) just wanted to make the Supox different from Earthly green yet not colorful as a rainbow planet. So I doubt there's any significance to their color.. Title: Re: what's with the supox bridge? Post by: Death 999 on April 11, 2003, 10:02:38 pm No, Primat is right: plants thrive best if the materials AROUND them are white. That way the light is reflected off of the non-plant surfaces and onto the plant . An exception of course being if the plant is one which prefers shade, which can happen if too much light would make it heat up and dry out, which would be bad.
Title: Re: what's with the supox bridge? Post by: Lukipela on April 12, 2003, 04:22:51 pm But, seeing as the Supox have a fine mist of water spraying them, the risk of drying out probably isn't that great.
Title: Re: what's with the supox bridge? Post by: Omni-Sama on April 13, 2003, 01:29:13 am Doesn't anyone know what plants need to survive? They need three simple things:
1) Water 2) Soil to grow roots 3) Light Photosynthesis is essential for a plant's survivival. By absorbing light and using its energy to produce a sugar the plant can 'digest', they are able to survive. It is there way of getting the essential nutrients that animals eat through food. The bridge is obviously a damp environment with a soft soil or material for their roots to grow in. White is the colour which reflects the most light, thereby enhancing the photosynthesis process necessary to their growth and survival. Wow, I thought the whole layout of the Supox bridge was obvious when I first saw it, and I was 7 back then... Title: Re: what's with the supox bridge? Post by: Scott on April 13, 2003, 01:55:57 am I would assume that since they're mobile, the Supox don't need soil to grow roots... either that or their roots also act as their legs... and maybe they only plant themselves in the dirt when they're *hungry*.
Title: Re: what's with the supox bridge? Post by: Kohr-Ah_Primat on April 13, 2003, 02:59:43 am Or perhaps 'ingest' soil through their mouths..
I imagine soil leached empty of useful nutrients and minerals could simply be regurgitated. Title: Re: what's with the supox bridge? Post by: Scott on April 13, 2003, 03:39:53 am Or just expelled the same way we do it.
