Stupid Poll of the Forum, *#1* :

What speech from Star Control II are you going to be the most happy to hear in 3D0 voices ?

For me, it'll be the Ariloulaleelay's ending bit about window-locking.  Or maybe the Thraddash rhyming Culture.

I've heard the speech all along.   But I'd have to say my favorite bits are:

The Druuge's contract with their god.

Convincing the Ilwrath to call themselves the Dill-rats etc.

The Ur-Quan's speech about The Eternal Doctrine

  I'm afraid that you're in for some disappointment, Azarule.  None of the "outtakes" were recorded.  They forgot about them until it was too late!  
 I can;t wait to hear those Scottish Yehats that everyone's been complaining about.   ;)

I was working for Software Etc. back in '94 and was a ble to play a bit of the 3DO version.  I only heard the Kzer-Za, Starbase Commander, Illwrath, and Fwiffo.  Fwiffo was hard to understand.

I guess when the port is released i'll just insert my own little sound file in there :-)

I have heard everything in the 3D0 version, and it's all great! You have no idea how much it adds to the game when you hear the aliens talk! :)
The great this is even though some people say it's hard to understand some of the races, I think in reality it adds to the fact that they ARE speaking in their speak, and your translator is doing the best it can to put it in English, but it's not 100% perfect you know? So you have to listen carefully ( and thankfully, there is a bar to go back in the voice sample, after they talk the first time , well it was there in the 3DO version I mean! ) and take down notes :)

And as for the Yehats - they are awesome. Very good, I can't see how someone can bash funny work like that !

Want to know something fun I used to do? I used to start the game, then do ALOT of stuff, because when you go back to the starbase commander, he gives you updates on what happened, and when you do alot of stuff right off the bat without going back to him, its REAL funny, because he says the clip, then you get a pause in the speech, and he goes 'ALSO.......' dragged out for the loading lmao
Then he goes to the next clip, and if you do alot its funny to hear him keep going 'ALSO...........'
I remember when I had it perfected the game, I could do so much the bar that showed how far the voice clips were in length would hardly move LMAO :)

I'd have to say Orz.
Ominous and diabolical as they likely are, I can't help but find their speech simply adorable. Even if it isn't intentional on their part.

Though I must say I was disappointed that the Yehat didn't voice out their AWWWWK! and stuff :P I really looked forward to that

heh..my favorite speech is when you ask the Slylandro what those "little glowy things" are.

and the one slylandro is totally hitting on the other one after that... so funny.

The voice acting made it even funnier, except for the mere fact that it sounds like the guy next door rather than some alien living in an environment with incessant 500 kph winds and no ground. Oh well, what can you do?

Well, maybe that's what alines sound like?

My favourite would be the Ilwrasth. They are just so hilarious...
