Title: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: Sturm on April 27, 2003, 09:55:35 am if you never get to meet them in the campaign mode?
Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: Captain Smith on April 27, 2003, 10:18:30 am So you can have more toys in the melee mode.
Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: AnonomouSpathi on April 27, 2003, 10:24:33 am Easy to put in, just there for more toys, since it's practically identical to the pc starcon 1 version. Same with the Chenjesu and MrmnHrmn.
Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: Shiver on April 27, 2003, 10:25:25 am The more the merrier. I'd be a little pissed if they left out the three perfectly good ships that weren't in the story.
Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: Defender on April 27, 2003, 10:40:56 am so you could test the old ships against the new, with friends, or the computer. ;D
Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: guesst on April 27, 2003, 01:58:40 pm because the save team "sc1 ships" would be tragicly incomplete without the androsynth, chenjesu, and mrnmrhrm
Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: Omni-Sama on April 27, 2003, 11:01:33 pm It's not very difficult to take the old SC1 ships and put them into SC2, so why not do it? Plus, it's fun to re-live those first, classic Alliance vs. Hierarchy battles with the improved game layout.
Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: Kohr-Ah_Primat on April 28, 2003, 01:37:14 am And of course, to give you a feel for 'how these guys' were in SC1, if you've never played it.
Personally, I find it ironically amusing when a Chenjesu Broodhome takes out a Chmmr Avatar. Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: Skyfire42 on April 28, 2003, 01:08:15 pm Didn't they also release a Demo Melee first for SC2... with just the SC1 ships to show what it would look and play like.
Also gave a nice twist of the "Find me" Snyth ship hoping one might appear somewhere in the game. Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: Lukipela on April 28, 2003, 01:17:43 pm Quote Personally, I find it ironically amusing when a Chenjesu Broodhome takes out a Chmmr Avatar. Personaly, I find it ironically amusing when the loving Pkunk take out anything. For a race with such high ideals of piece and love, that's really a nasty little ship they have there. Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: Death 999 on April 28, 2003, 09:27:56 pm Yes, but that doesn't have the same "These two ships cannot ever exist at the same time" kind of mindbend to it.
One of the reasons I despised SC3 was the loss of perfectly good SC1 and SC2 ships. Of course, much of that was legal reasons, but it's a crippling flaw anyway. Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: NECRO-99 on April 29, 2003, 12:10:50 am I'd be PISSED if the Guardian wasn't in the Melee! I love that thing, and in SC1, I would dominate the Alliance with it! The most underspoken ship in the game is in that list too: The Transformer. If used correctly, it can toast about anything that flies. As for the Broodhome, DOGI's are a blast against a Mauler. 8)
Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: Mormont on May 02, 2003, 02:52:32 am They left out many ships in SC3, and that was one of the many problems with the game. Androsynth, Chenjesu, Druuge, Ilwrath, Melnorme, Mmrnmhrm, Slylandro, Supox, Shofixti, Thraddash, Umgah, Yehat, and Zoq-fot-pik were all taken out. I'm glad they didn't do that with SC2.
Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: Matt Caspermeyer on May 03, 2003, 11:17:33 am Yes - of the many woes of SC3, the designers failed to follow a simple rule when making sequels:
Don't take away people's toys! I know I was really disappointed when I learned that they were excluding the above mentioned ships from "hypermelee". Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: Rider on May 04, 2003, 01:50:54 am oh well....
How DID you beat a Chmmr with a Chenjesu??!! and indeed, the transformer rocks. Every time I play the full game mode in SC1 (I still do) they are like the ships that rock. Give me a hierachy battle thrall, I'll toast 'm with the transformer w00h00! but enough nonsense, personally, I'd like to see MORE toys in UQM. So people, how about an easy-to-use unit editor for UQM, where you can build completely new units from scratch (or bitmaps, when completely zoomed in) in just an hour. I'd love to build a new game for it, but that takes too much time, and the game will suck anywayz. I think here's something that alot of players would like. Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: captain_kirk on May 04, 2003, 10:33:11 am i think they keeped the androsynth ship in so they can
DRIVE ME INSANE because you never meet them and of corse the the ladder two Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: guesst on May 04, 2003, 04:35:46 pm Quote and indeed, the transformer rocks. Every time I play the full game mode in SC1 (I still do) they are like the ships that rock. Give me a hierachy battle thrall, I'll toast 'm with the transformer w00h00! Hmm, true that the transformer will decimate an entire computer driven fleet, IF YOU PILL BOX EM. (Pill box, by the way, is 1) get em to chase you, 2) slow down so they can't catch you, but are out of their range and 3) hit them with your superior ranged weapon, all while they scramble to catch up to you. Uss I got the name wrong, I think that's what's called pill boxing in stragety guides.) Real players don't need pill boxing. Consequently real players need more than one ship to fight a war. Personally I always kept a transformer on reserve, just incase my holier-than-thou battle tactics failed and I was losing the war. Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: Death 999 on May 05, 2003, 09:10:41 pm Pillboxing is when you sit in one place and shoot at anyone who comes close. That resembles the real pillboxing tactics in real warfare... unlike running away just as fast as your opponent.
Kohr-Ah can usefully pillbox, as they build up a layer of defensive blades. Other ships can so it too, under certain circumstances. Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: Scott on May 05, 2003, 09:42:09 pm I'll tell you why those ships are still in the game. It's because if they removed them it would spoil part of the story. Like if you bought SC2, played melee before the campaign, and the 'synth weren't there, you wouldn't be all that surprised to find out the 'synth are dead.
Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: Lukipela on May 05, 2003, 10:50:03 pm Like the suspicious omission of the Supox in the Hypermelee... Dead you say? Oh, I would never have guessed, seeing as they don't have a ship!
Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: Crowley on May 05, 2003, 11:32:07 pm Speaking of SC3 ships, with all that was left out, what is the Arikou Skiff doing in Hypermelee, while it is never shown during the plot?
Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: Death 999 on May 05, 2003, 11:49:51 pm The Arilou do show up; I don't remember clearly, but I think they give you a few ships. Due to a bug which made 'cloaked' ships highly visible, I was able to kill every Herald with one Arilou.
Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: Krogoth255 on May 06, 2003, 06:33:00 am But, Syreen Pentradators is it spell right always.... utherly slaughter and rape Heralds in SC3
Title: Re: why does SC2 have the Androsynth ship.... Post by: captain_kirk on May 06, 2003, 11:06:32 am i quit playing star control 3
it has a timer and it goes to fast you turn it down gets slow and no work get done takes to long to fuel it would be faster if you got to build and fuel every thing you self "shut up ultron and go to sleep or i will drop kick you" |
