Title: Another simpleton Question Post by: svinayag on April 30, 2003, 12:36:36 pm Hello,
In the single player game is it possible to get shields and stuff for your lander? I was exploring the Alpha Centauri System and the planets there are absolutely insane to navigate! There must be a more safer method to gather minerals, so that the Space Yard Captain doesn't complain all the time. (I would some of these systems are close to Sol, but I shouldn't be too picky). Is there a system that people use that can effectively get minerals without wasting too many resources? Title: Re: Another simpleton Question Post by: Captain Smith on April 30, 2003, 01:29:21 pm Yes it's possible to get shields and stuff for your landers. Talk to your friendly neighborhood interstellar trader. He just might be able to help you out.
Sol itself is a must. Outside Sol, the Vulpeculae systems are a good start, and you'll find something you'll need as well - and ally with a race that can be very useful to your aims. Another good system to try is Tauri. Of course, when it comes to Alpha Centauri - there's a couple of planets that are wholly worth trying to navigate...of course once you get *these* minerals, you are much better safe than sorry so by all means return them! Hope this helps some. You have to buy it though, and it's a bit expensive at times....
To get yourself on the right track to getting a lander that's not a fire hazard, look around Alpha Centauri again. You're not the only one there. Be nice when you meet them, the rest will be explained. Not until you purchase the appropriate safeguard technology for your landers. If you want a kick-start in the technology upgrade process, go visit the home system of your closest Alliance ally (based on what Hayes says), and prepare to be unhumanly diplomatic with him when you meet him. He will be able to disclose to you a source of significant bio credits.

This is largely due to the expanded planet view, which lets you see the aftershocks more easily. level 4 or higher Tectonics and a little bit of aggressive life or weather is a recipe for disaster, though.
