Title: The Black Spathi Squadron Post by: Joseph Tek Fox on May 01, 2003, 01:50:21 am How many of you remember Commander Hayes mentioning something about the Black Spathi Squadron? I know I certainly do.
"Black. . .Spathi Squadron? What the Hell?" Okay, here's the skimmy. Basically, a group of rouge Spathi broke off from the general Spathi population. These few Spathi were brave, and noble fighters. What they did was they painted their Spathi Discriminators jet-black, with red sprites here and there.(See also, my new avatar(Note: This is little more than a fan-spriter's rendition. This is not officially what designers made, if they made anything.).) These group of Spathi called themselves the Black Spathi Squadron and devoted their lives to patrolling the galaxy, in search of wrongdoings, and the sort. They weren't afraid to tangle with the enemy in the least. What's the point of this new thread? Just to show off my cool new avatar perhaps? Well. . .partly. But, I'd actually like some opinions on the rumour of the Black Spathi Squadron, and whatnot. Like, do you think it's a possibility? Think the Black Spathi Squadron might make an appreance in Star Control IV? It's true, I really am no fun whatsoever. :) I used to agree with you (see "what's with the 0 posters"), then awhile ago someone posted a thread talking about a game randomizer, which I had only mentioned 2 days before, and I was initially going to posting some flaming remark about the uselessness of the board. Then, suddenly, that topic took off and became a rather robust and interesting topic. I agree that alot has been said already, and I agree that if someone were to read through the 200 million previous topics on some 21 pages or so of back posts that us old timers would be less annoyed. But I also feel that new blood discussing old ideas can make old ideas new again. The only thing I do wish is that there was a "stragety questions" board where first-timers through the game could ask why everyone died after their game went on too long, or how to get past the syreen/mycon encounter, or whatever. As for the Black Spathi, I wouldn't wasnt to fight those. They must be deadly. I wodner if the use the B.U.T.T at all, or if they prefer charging... Even when the battery emptied, they'd try to keep the enemy's tail so they wouldn't have to charge again (a dangerus proposition).
