What do you mean with "standard music file"? Isn't ogg format quite standard? :) Title: Re: Orbit Remix Post by: Mark Vera on May 03, 2003, 09:17:47 am Quote orbit remix? where is it? i can only find the ilwrath and shofixti remixes. Reload the main page http://sc2.sf.net and look for the news. Title: Re: Orbit Remix Post by: umgahbob on May 03, 2003, 12:31:13 pm I like the orbit remix. It sounds badass. If you rename the file to the right name, and place it in the proper directory it'll play in game.
Title: Re: Orbit Remix Post by: stylus on May 03, 2003, 02:43:18 pm oooooohhhhh. refresh button.
i gotta find something that will play ogg files. Title: Re: Orbit Remix Post by: Mark Vera on May 03, 2003, 10:05:27 pm Quote oooooohhhhh. refresh button. i gotta find something that will play ogg files. Winamp 2.80 and later have ogg support (no need for extra plugins). Title: Re: Orbit Remix Post by: OldShofixti on May 04, 2003, 12:01:06 am Real nice! I'm looking forward to the complete remixed soundtrack. Aren't there two other planet orbit themes in the 3DO version? I'm assuming so, because UQM plays all three.

Title: Re: Orbit Remix Post by: Mark Vera on May 04, 2003, 02:22:58 am Quote No, what I meant was that we should replace the old defaults with these. There will be option to select which music to play in UQM version 0.3. Title: Re: Orbit Remix Post by: Mark Vera on May 04, 2003, 02:25:09 am Quote Real nice! For UQM there will be some original never heard orbital themes too.. Title: Re: Orbit Remix Post by: Gill Bates on May 04, 2003, 03:22:49 am Mark, (nice nick btw), after hearing some of your work, I have concluded that you must be very talented, thumbs up!
Are you on the remix team yet? Title: Re: Orbit Remix Post by: Vee-R on May 04, 2003, 03:35:47 am Mark - VERY good! I'm impressed! ::thumbs up::
I'm listening to it through a crappy laptop speaker, and it still kicks quite an amount of ass. Very professional-sounding, too. Just out of curiosity - what software did you use in the process of making this? Are you on the remix team yet? Thanks. I really don't think the remix was that good :) My quasi-space remix is faaaaaar more better ;D Yes I'm on the team, been chatting a lot with Riku. Just out of curiosity - what software did you use in the process of making this? Thanks again :) I'm using Orion Platinum, lots of free samples and VST/VSTi plugins. Title: Re: Orbit Remix Post by: AnonomouSpathi on May 04, 2003, 10:36:09 am I like it. Perfect, just perfect, adds in a great deal of quality and atmosphere, while still keeping the basic melody and the feel of the original piece. Top not work!
Title: Re: Orbit Remix Post by: guesst on May 04, 2003, 03:40:02 pm Orbits original - 3:08
Orbits remix - 1:39 Why'd the re-mix get cut to almost half the time. I agree that the original was kinda boring and repetative, but I had hoped a re-mix would fix that and keep the orignal length so that if I'm ever gathering mineral for more than a minute and a half I won't get bored with the music, even if I am already bored with the resource gathering process. Asside from that, I appreciate the more bassy undertones of the re-mix. It did well to overcome the high pitched, squeeky nature of the original. Title: Re: Orbit Remix Post by: Mark Vera on May 04, 2003, 08:46:00 pm Are you sure you have the right original? Because the original mod in UQM and the 3DO remix of this song is exactly same length - 1:39. Or actually 3DO version is 1:34 and the original mod says it's 1:36 (content/ipanims/orbit1.mod).
So infact the UQM remix is 3 seconds longer than original.. About the bass, yes I had few master versions with more bass, but I finally didn't want the orbital music to have booming bass. After all it is *background* music. And I left space to the middle for sound effects... Title: Re: Orbit Remix Post by: J on May 04, 2003, 09:02:03 pm I think a really awesome intro sequence convering what happened in SC1 is what we need the most.
Animating the "Many great battles" would be the best bit :D No need to make it too short, it should cover in detail what happened in SC1, perhaps as a narrative. Title: Re: Orbit Remix Post by: Gill Bates on May 04, 2003, 11:30:21 pm And when shall we see another good Q-Space mix? (besides Rush AX's which is awesome).
Title: Re: Orbit Remix Post by: Mark Vera on May 05, 2003, 12:36:50 am Quote And when shall we see another good Q-Space mix? (besides Rush AX's which is awesome). Not being selfish, but after you hear my Quasi-Space remix, Rush AX's remix sounds cheap :) .. to hear my remix, you need to wait the release of UQM remix project. |
