Title: Quick Question...
Post by: Paxtez on May 10, 2003, 09:32:05 pm
Which does everyone like better?
1) (From PC version): Yellow FRIED/Green Flagship engine.
2) (From 3do/UQM): Blue FRIED/Red Flagship engine.

Just curious.  :)

Yellow really gives the AAAGH I'M BEING CONSUMED IN FLAME impression better than blue.

The Blue Fried was one of my favorite improvements, and the Green Flagship engine was one of the parts I missed.  I wonder why TFB chose those changes...

I never even noticed. A green engine and yellow fried sound better to me, though an orangey fried would be even more fiery.

How to tell you play too much SC2.

I mean, I hadn't actually noticed the change! That floors me that you're even asking.

However, since your asking, the yellow fried is cooler than the blue, but the engine color I could go either way on.

about the change in engine color. this was done, i thought, because in th pc version not only is the front of the ship's window green, but so was the engine. this, to me, is a little confusing, and there was times i thought i was pointed one way only to travel in the other direction. red, on the color wheel, is oppisite green, thus giving contrast, and making it easier to know wich way your pointed.

blue fried. it goes better with the black space background. at least thats what my wife would say. ::) ~DEFIANT

Yellow F.R.I.E.D.
The battle-cry, "[wimps] Eat flaming plasma death!!" works better with yellow flames of plasma death.

Yelling out, "Eat cryo-frozen flame-like ice-clouds!" doesn't have the same ring to it.

Also indifferent to engine, a la Luki.

I liked the green engine, but I did NOT like having to squint to tell which direction my ship was facing. Maybe instead of green engine and turquoise bridge, a green engine and a bright yellow bridge?

Blue F.R.I.E.D., I like the look of a clean burning flame. Like the kind you get with energy efficient propane and propane accesories.

Kohr-Ah, efficient? We don't need efficiency. We lay waste to planets, not bothering to mine them; our main weapon is a gigantic sheet of metal. We shoot hundreds of them in battle. No, we are not effiicient. But we are effective.

I got the joke, but I think thats the first time I've ever heard anyone say that show is the best on Earth!  :o

I got the joke as well, but given that I dislike that show...

Yes, Kohr-Ah are hardly efficient. Effective, yes.
But god knows how many additional Marauders could be built from all the wasted blades used for pillboxing minefields.

Going off topic, I never enoyed "the King of the Hill" that much... It always just annoyed me...

Also, building Marauders out of scrap metal?  I imagine you'd need more than the metal blades to build a Marauder Primat....

For one thing, given that the metal blades do as much damage from impact as fusion blaster bolts, and more than nuclear missiles, I'd have to say they're probably very very dense. That's a lot of matter to work with.

For another thing, if you're like me, you'll spew a good hundred of those things out over time all over the battle field. That's a lot of metal floating around in space..
