Title: Working on windows XP
Post by: Shy on May 18, 2003, 01:22:04 pm
For some reason the game almost doesn't work at all on my computer. It hangs after a minute or so in the melee and in the game itself it hangs when the shuttle reports from the surface of the moon at the very beginning of the game when the "(More)" appears.
I'm pretty sure that the problem is either with the installation procedure or with the environment. My machine is a pentium 4 running a windows XP professional.
Can anyone help me with that?

You will have to get the latest update of the game... go get striker's version via the FAQ thread (link marked Windows Version or something like it).
You can always try to compile latest cvs build with msvc6 if you know how to do it.
If you want to learn how to... there's enough info on the FAQ and other sources on this page.
Good luck.
PS: With this, I mean that the latest version DOES work and does NOT perform those nasty things you described anymore.

I had same problems on XP.

Just to let you know, I am running v.02 right now, but am going to install CVS from Striker as soon as I get home from work.

If you don't play the game with cyborg controlled battles, it won't hang at the battles in XP.

Also, keep re-loading and trying the hang with the Pluto thing. It usually only hangs once, but re-loading seems to "unhang" it. ;)
