I think atleast some of you could be interested in Star Control 2 music remix even though it's not related to this project.

I made this remix while ago. It's remix of the normal Hyperspace music originally made by Riku Nuottajärvi (thanks for creating such create song Riku).

I tried to keep the spirit of the original, yet to bring something new and the sound to this century.

I've also considered making other remixes just cause I love the originals.

Riku, if you have something againts this remix just say. I'll remove it from the public then.. (mp3 is properly credited).

It was good, but of course not as good as the original. .)

I'll be sure to add it to my SC playlist.

The song just got better with some extra listening. Now it's a great one! .)

I think this is better than the remix in the game. Not great but good :)

A most fine remix, Mark. I see (or actually hear) you are well acquainted with synth programming. What I am most impressed by, however, is how you can weave together an insane variety of bleeps into a tapestry of sound that sounds different to the original, yet still maintains its spirit and melody completely (and has a catchy groove, too). Every single filter sweep contributes to the whole. My only question is: how much time did you spend doing this? It sounds like you've spent weeks on end polishing this remix.

First, thanks for your nice words :) Second answering your question..  I made this remix in one night composing session. Had the original mod file on ModPlug Tracker which I used to look the notes, etc. programmed sounds, sequenced the song in the sequencer added effects here and there. Automated some filters in realtime with my midi keyboard knobs (like the jarreish sound at 0:15).

Drums are quite simple and repetive, just few different variations on the base loop.

Good night sleep and mastering about 2 hours. So it was more or less one day project.  8)

Hey, I really like the beat of this song... I'm so glad you've kept all the familiar blips and background noises of the original track.  It sounds wicked, man!  It makes me feel like going cruising through hyperspace with this pumping in the speakers.  It's like a bass-injected remix of the original...  I'm impressed.  It sounds really professional, nice work.   ;D

Second, something amusing: I thought the name "Mark Vera" sounded familiar. I checked my playlist, and it turns out that I downloaded your Wizardry remix a while back from r.k.o (and I really like that as well!) Funny how I came across your music from two very different places!

Wow, did you really have to post that in three different spots?  lol.  Well, you can dislike this remix all you want... I mean, I still hate the Ilwrath and Shofixti remixes with a passion, but love VR's Thraddash rendition, and the new Ur-Quan mix as well.

You hate everything, Omni-Sama :P I don't think I've seen a post where you completely and utterly accept/agree/without complains to the topic  ;D

besides, all three threads deal with the same thing - remixes.. they should start a unified thread for that !

Hey, I'm not afraid to tell you guys what I'm thinking... or feeling, in most cases.  Hehe.   ;D  Well, I think the subject of remixes is so big right now, the multiple posts is dsiplaying this.  I agree its hard to keep track of which remix belongs to which topic, but I'm doing my best.

Actually, I've pledged my support to almost all the new remixes being made by new members on these boards.  I just feel they were more original than the 'official remixes', and I think they sound better.  I don't do this just to be stubborn, but because this is the truth, IMHO.
