Heheh...did a search but didn't find any conversation here about StarCon, that 3D arcadey "sim" that was in the works a while back...might've been interesting if that came out.  

Hey, has anyone noticed the similarities between some of Larry Niven's "Known Space" stories and some of the stuff in Star Control 2? (I searched on the archive here but didn't find anything) it's been a while since I've read the former or played the latter, but I read the books after completing the game and some of it seemed very familiar...especially the Melnorme trader and the puppeteers.  I see Larry Niven got a special mention in SC1...unfortunately I don't remember all the parallels but they really were quite striking...
