As far as I know, that's not a combat speed issue, but an issue about hit detection in this alpha version. It's mentioned in one of the txt files that come with the download as a problem that will be fixed in the future.

I don't know if anyone posted about this before, but since a bunch of threads were lost, I thought I'll post about what I noticed.

If you go into planet view, than save the game, the screen doesn't get updated when the save screen is supposed to go away, so the planet view and the save screen view are superimposed on each other.

Some time ago, I made a post about how the game seems (or I should say "sounds") to play, but the screen is all black. One piece of advice I got was to install the latest drivers for  my video card. I did so, and it fixed the problem fine, so if anyone has the same problem, try doing this.
