This is, honestly, the best possible outcome - and a great statement about the silliness of the legal system, that they had to completely bypass it to do anythign sane.

I didn't originally notice any clipped-off passages in the .ogg files, but there's no 'formatting' difference between the .ogg files for any versions.
The .ogg format hasn't changed in years, the only thing that could've changed is the playback code.

Originally the utwig voiceovers were at 44khz and sounded weird and not-in-keeping with the other 3do voiceovers which are all at 11khz. They were downsampled in a commit I made, which made them fit the rest of the game better.

However if you go back and explore the previous git commit (https://sourceforge.net/p/urquanmastershd/git-new/ci/61b67b0e80f0bf8d3337c28c2c760b90cea46461/tree/) you will find the original utwig .ogg's still have the clipped endings eg. https://sourceforge.net/p/urquanmastershd/git-new/ci/61b67b0e80f0bf8d3337c28c2c760b90cea46461/tree/content/addons/3dovoice/utwig/utwig-027.ogg
Incidentally the last git commit reflects most of the changes made in HD Remix.

So it's likely that the original .wav files were also clipped. And there is no current known version without the voice effects.

Still better than the original 3do voiceovers regardless. Oh boy were they bad

First up, download UQM HD Remix - there's a lot of bugs fixed.
You can copy your save files over.

I suggest you try the MegaMod even.

I mean, if you're going to advertise your mod the MegaMod is yours plus the hard work of creating the most faithful looking version of the HD mod in existence thus far.

Honestly this game feels more like SC2 than any game I've played, in terms of mood, exploration, etc.
Seriously, I'm hooked, I've had to stop playing for a while. Picked it up for free during epic game store's opening, amazing graphics, amazing sense of exploration.

I'd argue it does, because if SCO is never available again F&P can expect a massive retaliation from non-diehards if their game isn't anywhere near as good, or even if it IS as good, or better.

Don't step up to Urquan until you've got your ship fully upgraded, is my advice.
You'll also get some ships towards endgame that can help you.
But venturing into urquan space is designed to be dangerous for the neophyte.

The strangest thing about this is the claim that F&P didn't create the SC2 universe - sure, they had help. But not the main creators? Please.
I remember a patch update note from the original game (unfindable now, I searched - the sc2 patch is long gone), which stated that accolade tried to find F&P after the game was released for two months, but they'd just 'gone away'. Then, they came back and gave a patch which fixed all sorts of stuff and introduced somewhere between 5-10 new types of worlds, and a bunch of other stuff. They really did 'make' that game.
