1  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Old Precursors music by Mark Vera on: September 17, 2021, 10:26:01 am
Hey all.

Though about mentioning (finally) here too. I uploaded all my Precursors remixes of the UQM music to SoundCloud, all is downloable as flac from original masters at highest quality there is. I've received few inquiries over the years, but did not do much about it until now (well that was months ago).

The remixes and original works (with few extra additions):

https://soundcloud.com/markvera/sets/the-precursors-the-ur-quan-masters-victory-ditties-mark-vera-mix

Frankly I don't know what soundtracks the UQM HD is using, but these were made to be direct replacement remixes back in the day (http://www.medievalfuture.com/precursors/main.php). There are other remixes too, but I cannot talk behalf of the other artists if they have or plan to release the original masters.

In case you want to support me as a musician, you can visit also my bandcamp page at: https://markvera.bandcamp.com/

Thank you for listening.  Cool
2  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Syreen remix? on: October 11, 2008, 07:23:01 pm
Sorry about forgetting the Syreen.. I really haven't though about it for a long time. Frankly I haven't done much music work for a long time, mostly because my studio hasn't been in working condition. Since I switched my computer to Vista 64-bit, I haven't been able to use my soundcard (no drivers, so selling the card now). Just recently got new pro-soundcard which works fine. Only problem now is that I just have to hook up my studio equipment again as I removed all the cables (about 300 meters of cables) during small furniture reorganization operation..

I have the old syreen remix available, but as TiLT said, I wasn't too happy about it. It was around the time I started buying hardware synthesizers and I'd rather use some of the sounds from those for a better mix and maybe rearrange the song slightly.
3  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: The Best Hyperspace Music on: October 27, 2007, 11:29:42 am
I must point out that the Re-enter mix is basically just the original mod song. What I did I rendered the separate instruments as separate tracks and then mixed those tracks again by adding some effects and balancing the sounds. Only thing really not part of the original and just addition to this mix are the space-wind fx at the beginning. So in a sense, you're just hearing what the original Riku's module version could have been, if the trackers had better mixing and effecting capabilities.
4  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Mark Vera, Hyperspace Electro Blast Remix 2007 Mix on: February 02, 2007, 08:09:38 pm
McMartin asked if I had ogg version of the old Electro Blast remix available anywhere. I couldn't find it, so I though I could re-export the song from my sequencer software. However I ended up touching up the mixing a bit, so it's a bit better mixed and mastered now. Song itself is 100% the same. So now you can listen how much I've improved my mixing skills over the years Wink

Really good looking improvements. Although my favourites Spathi and Pkunk are missing Sad
6  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Remix Pack 4 - The New Alliance of Free Stars on: March 04, 2006, 09:40:40 am
reason for the fwiffo's starrunner being similar is that it was the first remix. The spathi home remix is just modified version of fwiffo's starrunner. Safe haven was released just much earlier and fwiffo been laying around my harddisk for almost 2,5 years now. Practically forgot it.

I think that by far the best Hyperspace song has been the 'Re-Enter mix' by Jouni Airaksinen.

Well..that's just mixing all the original audio tracks separately.
8  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: The makers of this game are sick. on: January 29, 2006, 10:26:40 am
The clipped sound of the umgah is weird. How was that achieved? I mean, not all of this sounds heabily vocoded.

Doesn't really sound vocoded at all to me. Sounds to me just some pitch modifications slightly delayed. Suttering stuff just repeated speech. Probably they also edited some of the speech pauses so that it sounds weird and not natural.
9  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Laserpod, light show of stars on: January 15, 2006, 07:41:48 pm
I bought Laserpod while ago.. it was just too cool to miss. Some pics here of my Laserpod (click to zoom the pics):

and.. video to see it in action:

laserpodvideo.avi

I don't have pics of the diffusors (those dome diffusors makes it look more like upgraded lavalamp).

11  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / UQM Loader 1.2 (for UQM 0.4) on: May 26, 2005, 02:46:13 am
New version of my UQM Loader available. Few changes and additions to support 0.4 better.

http://www.markvera.net/uqm-loader/uqmloader-1.2.zip

version 1.2 (UQM 0.4 compatible; and up?)
- New: Intro type can be selected
- New: Extra custom parameters if you happen to need something not supported yet (on About page). These are appended to the command line, so you can  override settings set by the gui as well
- New: Triscan graphics scaling mode added
- Changed: Melee Scaling -> Melee Zoom
12  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Anyone from Spain/Mexico(or speaks fluent Spanish) on: April 16, 2005, 05:25:36 am
.. and has access to a reasonable recording place? And/or owns better mic than cheap computer mic?

I would be needing something catchy said in Spanish about summer/mexico.

This would be used in a song which probably will be released in a single CD.

Otherwise I'll be just doing some effected vocals by myself.
13  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: Invent new name for a record label, win lifeti on: April 07, 2005, 11:11:06 pm
My Hyperspace remix (still on "mixing desk") is Spacesynth remix.. and it's quite true to the original.
14  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: Invent new name for a record label, win lifeti on: April 06, 2005, 10:59:21 pm
Check the artist page on their website for some reference. Mostly it's Spacesynth (80's disco with space themes). If you like SC2 music, you probably have interest towards spacesynth too at some extent.
15  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Invent new name for a record label, win lifetime r on: April 06, 2005, 09:14:08 pm
The record label I'm signed in, is moving to UK this year, and changes it's name.

Label is having a competition to invent new name for the company and the first prize states:

If we will choose one of the proposed trademarks - every future release from AXIS Records for free for a winner (lifetime).

That will include my album as well Wink So now it's very easy to win several albums for free in the years to come.

Rules: http://www.axisrecords.net/competitions/competitions.htm

Label Website: http://www.axisrecords.net/

Competition is valid from 06.04.2005 to 31.07.2005. So 4 months from now.

Read the rules before submitting!
