Ah, cool! I actually was looking to see if it was shared here first, but I didn't have much luck finding it. I'll go take a look at the other thread now. Thanks!
2  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Peace has broken out between P&F and Stardock! on: June 15, 2019, 07:31:57 am
I just read that Paul and Fred came to a final agreement with Stardock over who owns what. there's going to be two lines of games coming out now (new content vs. SC2-derived content) and that they'll be working together on these projects.

Also, a good part of this peace was brought to us by... bees.

I came across this in The Escapist a few minutes ago and wanted to spread the word.  Looks like the word beat me back here.  Smiley Regardless, here's what I read over there.

Believe it or not, there's a good one on Facebook.  It's called Galaxy Legion.  Try to imagine a game that combines aspects of Master of Orion and Spacewar (old BBS door game).  I run a guild there named Stormfront, if anyone here would like to know more or give it a try, feel free to let me know.
5  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Technical Issues / Re: Sound and joystick issues on: September 26, 2010, 08:24:34 pm
Thanks, that did the job.  All my old tricks for getting it to work were for an older version.
6  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Technical Issues / Sound and joystick issues on: September 23, 2010, 05:16:29 pm
Ok, first off the sound issue.  I was experimenting with the different sound settings, but my computer didn't like the alternate setting and dumped the game.  It refuses to run now, and I'm not sure how to implement the suggested switch correctly.  Hell, I even erased the game directory and re-installed! It must save the configuration data (and hopefully the save files) elsewhere on the system. '--sound=none' is the suggested option.

The other problem is the controller.  I have a PS2-to-USB adapter that's properly installed in the system.  When I try to set my controller configuration up with it, it dosen't recognize any inputs.  I've tried it in various USB ports.

Update: Sound resolved, I hit the FAQ and found the config file.  Deleted it, and all was well. No answers there for this particular joystick issue though that I could find.

What kind of media playback device handles .OGG files?

What version of UQM is on the CD?
9  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: Spore thread on: November 09, 2008, 10:31:06 pm
Heh, that's all the more amusing since legitimate scientists have spoken out saying Spore gets real science confoundingly wrong.   Tongue  It's an amusing game, I'll give it that much.  Not worth full price though, at least in my opinion.  I'd wait til the thing hits the bargain shelves first.
10  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: FALLOT 3: A POST BLACK ISLE ROLE PLAYING GAME on: November 02, 2008, 08:48:45 pm
You could always just go to Blockbuster or someplace like that and rent it.  =p  See if it's worth the $$ that way.  I probably won't have the cash extra to pick it up myself until February the way things look, but definately will be getting it eventually.  I haven't had any chance to play the game yet, but from what I've seen of the website, Bethseda has done a very good job sticking with the feel of the Fallout world at least.  I'll get the 360 version of it though, my PC is abit on the outdated side of life at the moment.

There's some great work Arne!  You should consider sending some samples of it to Toys for Bob, and see if they would like it enough to comission you to work on SC-related material for them.  Would it be possible for you to include links to larger versions of those pictures in the future?  I'd really like to see some of that stuff in closer detail.

Okunkfury... what coded girls?
12  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: Hillary bashing on: January 31, 2008, 07:31:40 am
Anybody but her, please!  Hell, I'd run for the job first!  Her problem can be summed up in one sentence.  She is the most polarizing, devisive American converting food to poop.  Pres. Bush is also polarizing, but not nearly as much as she is. You would have 4 - 8 years of party politics that were a half-breath away from a shooting war.
13  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: The Man's Version Of Robotech on: January 07, 2008, 02:47:14 pm
Robotech/Macross is interesting.  You basically have the same anime, but with two different scripts.  Robotech was the American version that included differences like protoculture.  If I remember right, the Japanese scripts don't mention it al all, it was an American plot device.  There are other differences, one of these days I'm going to watch both series next to each other and note them down (if it already hasn't been done out there in the internets already).
14  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Vivendi to aquire majority control of Activision on: December 03, 2007, 04:03:35 pm
Vevendi, the software publisher that owns Blizzard Entertainment, announced yesterday that they're going to aquire majority shares of Activision.  They will merge the two under the same corporate hood, to be called Activision Blizzard.  Since Toys for Bob is itself owned by Activision (if I remember right), maybe this will be the extra bit of financial leverage needed to start production of the next Star Control!

FAQ from Blizzard's POV.

Interview with Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime.

Activision's merger page.  Not much to see here yet, though.

Moderator edit: merged in this posting from from General Discussion.
