It was the supox who were killed. Also, they wern't completely destroyed, it's just that their team didn't make it to the place where SC3 takes place.

And indeed, SC3 was the most disappointing game sequal I've played.

Star Control, although a funny game on its own, has its own complex mix of history, storyline, races etc. to make several good parodies on it.

Least favorite ship? Probably the Druuge Mauler. It is a clumsy, too hittable ship, its weapon's annoying (both as a player, in which case it is hard to use, or in the computer's case, in which it is sometimes capable of painful hits), its energy regeneration's pathetic, and its secondary is just a pathetic way to cover for the pathetic energy regeneration rate.

The Druuge should pay ME a hundred slaves so I'll vacate a position at my fleet and use it for a Mauler.

At this age of Flash parodies about, well, everything, I am yet to encounter a single SC parody.

How could I prevent the pkunk from being destroyed?

I know that I can make tham go back 2-3 times to save some time, and I know how to split the Yehat into 2 rivaling clans. Assuming I'm at a situation where the Yehat are already splitted, what should I do?
