The end of boredom?  Or the end of the story?
Now it seems the beginning of the making of the pics. Wink
It would be nice if every chapter had a pic.

The best Star Wreck I've seen is "Galaxy Quest".

Sometimes reality follow no rules.
So Reality is fantastic sometimes.

Making comics showed me that arts attract the readers, storyline makes them reach the end of the story.  So both are important.

There are 2 ways to make cool models.
One is to make a detailed mesh and the other is to use cool textures.
To me it seems that your mesh is cool enough, and you should spend some time making some hull textures.

For example, look at this mesh, it's made mostly from cool textures, low poly count.

Fantasy is usually related to magic, but magic becomes technology when someone discovers the way to make magic.

Call me a retro guy.

Space 1999!!!  best series ever.

Is SC3 warez?
I thought it was like SC2 which went GPL by UQM.

Is there any way to hack it so it could have custom sound?

it looks that you love 3D.
You may use anim8or to texture it.  It can import and export from/to 3DS.
If you want a 3D format convertor, you may use a software called "3D Exploration".
I have used them already.

And for texturing using UV mapping you may use "UVmapper".  haven't used it yet, but I've been told it's good.

If you can make you adventure to be very graphical it would be nice.  the nicest thing would be to make it as a comic.

scifi is about the "possible", while fantasy is about the "impossible".
But sometimes the impossible becomes possible, like going to the moon.
So the boundary is hazy.

Is accel point the periabsis (lowest point in the orbit)?
A retro burn to make orbit circular should start some time before you reach periapisis and it would end up some time after, so periapsis is at the middle.

Also, some eccentricity calculation is necessary, not only to know if you have an orbit instead of a slingshot, but also to prevent a crash on surface planet.

Geez, I am turning SC into a 2D simulator. Grin Smiley Wink

The problem of entering orbit is tht you have to aim retrograde (which will mean a constant change of heading), and if you fire your thrusters too much, your orbit could intersect the planet and you may crash.

So you have a speed lower than escape velocity, but also enough speed not to crash.
At most you may achieve an elyptical orbit.  Achieving a perfectly circular orbit seems very hard, for it would require precision maneuvering on SC.

Anyway, it would be very interesting to try it.

If any of you got to do it, just tell me.

I was just wondering about it, because if such hardcoding could be hacked, I bet many people might like to make their own comms, just as you can make your OGGs now.

If such anims were coded in a layered way, flexible and resolution independant, it would surely encourage artists to be part of this.

BTW, I found a BIG community of artists, called "Elfwood".
http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/
There are LOTS of artists there and I bet that among MANY artists the chances of making things interesting for talented one might be higher.

Look at the SF&F galleries...
Some are good, some arent.

I'd help but right now I am making stuff for another game.
If you want to see my SC pics, those are at http://www.classicgaming.com/starcontrol/fan/3drender13.shtml

I am mostly good for drawing, not very good for modelling and I don't know too much about layering/transparency, etc...  but I bet making new comms anim would be interesting someday.

...
SC2 was the first space game with real physics I've played.
...

Technically, SC physics are pretty far off from reality Wink
May be, but that was the first time I had to care about gravity in a computer game.
I always wondered if one could achieve an orbit insertion... Grin
