91  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: [ORZ]: Bug or Feature? on: December 04, 2002, 06:37:14 am
Well that's odd, it work fine for me. You do know you have to hold down the Esc button while pressing the left or right arrow keys, right?
92  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Patch questions on: December 04, 2002, 06:31:29 am
Well they said that they'd CONSIDER patches for the final version, so they probably don't even know right now.

And it's been said that the saved files will work for SOME future versions, but they it will be impossible at some point or another. But, it's no big deal, as by the time the next version comes out, you'll be done with the game several times over, (it only took me 3 days to complete the very first time I playied) so you'll want to start a new game anyway.

also.. is there a file that we could edit to remap the buttons?

That's on their to do list for future versions.

Oh the Zot-Fot-Pik! I completely forgot about them (i haven't bothered trying to ally with them in years). But, anyway, you're right. If I remember correctly, if you talk to them, the starbase commander will say that the Zot-Fot-Pik sent a distress call saying that it was worse then the Zebranky. Then, if you go there, you'll find them all killed. After which, they will go to the battle thralls (most just disapear from the map before the Korh-Ah even head toward them). Then, they head up to Traddash space, over to Utwig/Supox space, all the way down to Yehat space, and finally to Earth. Sorry for the confusion.
95  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: What question about SC do you most want answer on: December 04, 2002, 06:07:48 am
I'd like to know what happened to the Androsynth.  But I'd like any of these *important* answers to come from Toys for Bob themselves.  I'd prefer that if they think there is any chance for a sequel, to leave them unanswered.  I see no reason to just drop all their "ideas" on us to just satisfy our curiosities.

As the Pkunk say:
Ah, the mysteries of the Universe.
Try to understand 'em, but can you?
Nope, they're mysteries!

I never expected they'd answer (like you said, if they answered MOST questions it would ruin our hopes of a new SC game). Mostly the thread is just a thing to waste time on while traveling through hyperspace. Wink Either way it limits new threads that will be popping up by newcommers (i've seen quite a few questions in threads thus far).
96  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Why 140 megs? on: December 03, 2002, 03:25:34 pm
12mbs to install? Well if you say so, (i can't remember) but if you remember you needed the disks to run the game. So, you're running most of the stuff right off the disk and so not so much space has to be taken from your computer. Anyway, UQM is more the 144MBs (remember it's zipped) and a mod said before that the final version will be somewhere inbetween 200 and 300MBs. So, if you think this is bad, maybe you should wait before downloading.
97  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / What question about SC do you most want answered? on: December 03, 2002, 03:21:07 pm
Ok well the idea of this was suggested by someone, in another thread and I thought it was a good idea, so here I am.

Now the idea of this thread is to post the question you would most want answered about SC in general (only one per person). Hopefully someone, say that damn Team Beige of Timewarp who I'm almost certain were told what the Mark II was, but are withholding it from us or MAYBE even TFB. Either way, it's a good waste of time. Wink

As you've probably guessed, from my near emotional breakdown, my question is; "What is the Mark II supposed to be?"

EDIT: My original text (everything above) is unchanged, but I wanted to add that I posted a message about the Mark II on the Timewarp forums the other day and this was the reply:

"Khes-Ra was a member of TB, but has left the team some time ago. TfB told TB about the MK2 a long time ago; I don't think they'd want us to share this information with others. You'll have to wait till the game is released to see what it is like."

So, in 3 or 4 years, when the full game of Timewarp comes out I'll have the answer to my question.  Grin But, seriously I just find it interesting that I have dozens of unanswered questions 10 years after the game was released. Most games either answer cliff hangers by the end of the game or the game is so bad (SCIII anyone?) that you don't care.
98  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: The 12,000 credit question... on: December 03, 2002, 03:11:19 pm

I have about a dozen questions and so do many others so maybe you should start a thread saying "If you could ask the creaters a question about the game, what would it be" or something to that effect. But, I highly doubt they'd answer most questions for the following reasons.

1. They don't know. Many things in the game are just funny little things that weren't important, so they didn't bother deciding what it should be. For example it's unlikly they know what Frungy is (as Chad stated before) because they probably wanted to say the Zot-Fot-Pik had a sport, so they PROBABLY (this is just my point of view) came up with the name, but not the final product.

2. It was meant to be an idea for a future SC version and having not decided if they would one day want to make one or not, they don't want to give away all of their surprises.

3. Because...Because...Well just because.

Reply or not that would be a fun topic. I have tons of question (like were the Eternal Ones an orginal idea, what was the Mark II suppost to be, ect) and so I'd be happy even having the smallest chance of finding out the answer.
99  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Tedious...Tedious... on: December 03, 2002, 03:04:02 pm
Ah walkthroughs take all the fun out of the game. It's much more interesting to learn, for youself, that the Yehat help you at the end and that is the reason you keep losing (if you've playied the game already you know what i'm talking about). And to go exploring, only to find yourself deep in Ur-Quan space.  Grin

I had the same problem when I first starting playing (couldn't figure out what num pad was). Anyway, press the + button that is on the right side of your keyboard (NOT the one near backspace) and space at the same time.
101  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Time limit? on: December 03, 2002, 02:34:47 pm
After killing everyone in 2160, do they immediately head for the Earth Starbase?

Yes, they kill all battle thralls first, then all other races. The last one to die, before you, is the Yehat. Once they're dead, you'll only a short time before they say something about all races being dead, including those on the starbase and then the game is over (you see the Korh-Ah head toward Earth, on your map).
102  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Tedious...Tedious... on: December 03, 2002, 02:21:52 pm
Although right now, the vague nature of the quests is killing me. Where's the Sylandro mothership? Who knows! Where's the Ilwrath homeworld? Got me! Errrg.

Since the gameplay doesn't adopt any previous paradigms, an FAQ about exactly _how_ one should be playing it would be very appreciated. I've looked at other online strategy guides, but they all take more or less the form of walkthroughs, and I'm not looking for specifics. Just, like, should I be cruising through all of Ilwrath space looking for their homeworld, with a million enemies constantly on my tail through hyperspace? Or is it pereferable to pace the quests, rather than rush headlong into them? That sort of thing.

Well if I might make a suggestion you look at a map (the one that comes with SCII if you buy it) from The Pages of Now and Forever (check the FAQ section). When I first played I was having problems finding the Ilwrath home world too and then I looked at it and realized their spear of influence has not only grown, but it's in different places. So, I checked the star clusters where it used to be and sure enough that was where their home world was located.
103  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Savegames - Verson to Version on: December 03, 2002, 02:14:29 pm
There was a thread about this awhile back. The mod who replyied said that you can keep saved files from version to version for a little while, but at some point they will change it so that it will not be possible. It shouldn't be a big deal though. By the time the next version comes out you should be finished (you can't finish the final battle) with the game several times over. So, even if they always let you keep saved files, you'd want to start a new game anyway.
104  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: How does hyperspace work on: December 03, 2002, 02:10:52 pm
Hmm... I never had to disengage autopilot to leave hyperspace... using 0.1... a CVS bug?

You don't...Shivam was joking.
105  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Important question - 3DO controller? on: December 03, 2002, 07:32:44 am
I know what you mean. I've always playied SCII on my old Tandy and for years I'd play it with a joystick and then one day it broke. Since it was an old computer I couldn't buy a new one, so I was stuck with the keyboard and it felt so weird for a long time.
