...such a change as you propose would deviate from the original, so I don't think that anybody else would like it.
Good point.

...you can simply change the values in the source code - I can do it for you if you haven't already installed the needed software.
Nah, that was just a random idea after all. Thanks for the offer though.

May I beg you all to make some more criticism over the match-up values I've snatched yet?
The only way I can think of for testing those is to have human players play against each other with all the combinations... and, in all honesty, I think you're going to have to pay them for that.
2  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Cost balancing project on: April 09, 2007, 01:59:56 pm
Seeing the 200+ lines of numbers Valaggar has kindly prepared for us it would seem I'm quite a bit too late to post this, but still, IMHO the Ur-Quan and Chmmr ships shouldn't have their point values changed, because the fact the three better ships have the same value has a nice *flavor* interest I think shouldn't be gone.

*Proposal*
Ur-Quan: change blaster damage to 8 (so it can destroy small ships in one shot), proportional battery cost increase.
Kohr-Ah: reduce blade damage to 3, possibly increase FRIED from 2 (IIRC) to 3 to compensate.
Chmmr: slightly reduce laser damage.

The Arilou, because I like what  I don't understand.
4  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: Cars on: November 27, 2006, 11:00:09 pm
Cars Cats.

Seriously, isn't there a single place on the Internet without a reference to cars?
5  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Is it possible to do 2 player melee? on: August 11, 2006, 02:47:04 pm
ESDF, Q, A respectively, actually (at least on my copy). Down and special are supposed to be two different keys. Wink The v0.5 seems to set up a start menu shortcut to the key config file.

I've edited my post to show up the correct keys. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Oh God, what have I done?!

It's OK, as long as no one decides to bring in a truncheon, arguing it's the best, fastest sleeping method ever invented...

I'll just let in here some of my beloved cats...
*feathers and wool coming from teared pillows start flying in all direcions...*

Defaults are ESDF for movement, and Q and A for weapons. You can change the keys editing the keys.cfg file, that should be at C:\Documents and Settings\<User Name>\Application Data\uqm.
8  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Androsynth (spoilers) again on: March 27, 2006, 06:23:44 pm
-The Androsynth, upon discovering the Precursor Artifact, bring it home and start research on it.
-Eventually, they discover it's purpose- opening rifts in the space/time continuum to an alternate dimension.
-What they didn't know was the Orz, a singular being with multiple *fingers*, was waiting on the other side.
-The Orz attacked the Androsynth via the rift that was created on their surface, capturing or otherwise removing all traces of their existence.
-The blasted cities found on the surface of their planet show an attempt by the Androsynth to defend themselves from this invading force, apparently with thermonuclear weaponry as the reference to "nuclear bazookas" is given by Xenotech Killgore on examining the planet's surface.

I think that most of us agree on that.

The Orz didn't eat the Androsynth, or the Androsynth didn't become the Orz. Their final fate is still unknown...to us, at least.

But, why are you so sure that the Orz didn't eat the Androsynth?
It's sure that the Androsynth were defeated by the Orz, probably in the way you said above, but we don't know what happened after that. The Orz may have eaten/cloned/whatever the Androsynth, like guesst said.

Of course, it's only a possibility.

An infinite number, I think.

There is nothing in the text files of the game related with what should happen when you conquer a world, so I suppose it's impossible.
10  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: The upcoming energy crisis. on: March 10, 2006, 03:52:03 pm
My input is that we should remove cars.

I know it sounds very... radical, but it wouldn't be so difficult. If we made an efficient public transport system (let's say, 50 times more vehicles than now), cars would no more be necessary. We would reduce contamination, and in addition remove traffic jams.

The biggest problem is that there are some morons that love showing off their cars, and would do anything to stop a measure like this one. Anyway...

Maybe it'll happen. Let's work for it.

11  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: So which race is going to win tonight's Monday Night Frungy match? on: January 17, 2006, 06:19:09 pm
The hunams were disqualified for secretly wearing Dynarri in their pockets while also wearing Taalo shield replications.

Hmm. Are you telling me that the hunams didn't secretly wear hydrogen bombs, or anything like that? I simply can't believe it.
12  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Improving the original? OK, but make the original available on: January 02, 2006, 03:20:08 pm
Well...
There are a lot of ideas on this thread, some of which are really interesting. I don't see any problem in implementing them. But first, I think it would be better to finish the original (fix the few remaining bugs, a Remix Pack 4, etc...). Then, add the new ideas to the game. But leave the original version downloadable.

Happy 2006.
13  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Poll: alien appearance in sequel on: January 02, 2006, 03:06:56 pm
3D.
the time has come and I see no disadvantage to it.

I agree.
As long as the 3D images are well done.
14  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: SC4 Intro Idea on: December 22, 2005, 06:20:45 pm
 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

That would be perfect!

Now we only need to make an SC4... Cry
