I would recommend EV Nova, from Ambrosia ( It's a VERY good action-strategy-RPG game set in space. The only problem it has is that it's shareware Angry.

I've sent you a PM.

Although relying on the wiki for something like this is a bit risky, I'll give the link:

Okay. Let's see if somebody understands this Grin

You know, I have nothing against Russian speakers, but I think you should write in English, so everybody can understand what you're saying.

Amazing. Nobody seems to know that it's easier to help somebody that has parts of his project done, rather than starting one.

Here's a link to the homepage of some people that are working in a sequel. At the moment, they only have done the melee mode, that has lots of new ships. Anybody who wants to create a plot should help, because the ships are already done.

How loosely are you defining "space" games?

Well, I mean games of all genres (action, strategy, RPG...) that are set in space. As there are too many games that could be placed here, I'll limit the thread to freeware/open source games.

1. If there are any hints, I haven't found any.

Seems like other of those questions whose answers can be invented. The answer you included in the question is as good as any other.

3. One of the questions that the game doesn't answer. You can look at this article of the wiki of the game:, or go to the Androsynth homeworld (Eta Vulpeculae II).

4. No, although the Chmmr are supposed to remove all the shields after you win the game. By the way, is the Syreen's the slave shield that you want most to remove? Probably you haven't found the human colony of Unzervalt, where the Captain was born.
***Spoiler alert***
Unzervalt, aka Vela I.
***End of spoiler***

5. I think that it's impossible to do anything about that.

6. The Umgah caster was placed in the Spathi moon by the Umgah to scare the Spathi.
And the other caster was placed in the Burvixese moon by the Druuge. The Melnorme can tell you the story (obviously, for a fee).
The only difference between the Casters is their history.

7. If you go to the planet where the device is placed, they will tell you something about a Pod that opens and gives them heat and light.

8. Yes, it's evil. Maybe there is a way to avoid doing this, but I haven't found it.

9. Yes.

One last comment. You have won the game, but there's a lot of fun remaining. For example, you should try playing with the objective to make all the races your enemies. The game will be much more difficult, but you'll find lots of amusing dialogues. Bye!

I start the list.

Star Control 2 No point in writing anything about this game.

Star Control: Timewarp ( This is a project inspired in SC2. At the moment, only the melee mode is working, and it often crashes. However, the graphics and gameplay are nice, and it has online play.

Aftermath  ( Another sequel to SC2. I couldn't play it because it ran too slow on my computer Angry. However, it seems to be a good game.

Subspace Continuum ( An action MMORPG. The gameplay is pretty simple, but addicting.
Unification Wars and Galactic Conquest ( Two strategy MMORPGs. If you like the genre, you will probably enjoy them.
25  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / List of space-related games on: November 17, 2005, 06:08:43 pm
This thread's intended to be a list of games of all genres related with space.

Please add here the name of any game you know, including a short remark.

Thank you!
26  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Damn, i lost on: November 15, 2005, 06:49:36 pm
I finished the game the first time I played it, and didn't have any problem with the time limit. (I didn't even give time to the Kohr-Ah to finish with any race).

My suggestions would be:
1) Do the Spathi plot the first.

2) Advice for the Syreen plot. If you don't want to use spoilers, it will be VERY difficult, because of a bug in the game, that can make you search 20-30 star systems before finding the one that you need. Actually, that's what I did, and it was the best thing that happened to me in the game. While I searched, I got a lot of RU destroying Mycon ships.
So, try to get involved in the Syreen plot as soon as you can. You will receive so much RU that you won't have to mine in all the game (so you won't lose time).

3) You should also do the Supox-Utwig plot early, because it gives you an extra year of time.

4) The Arilou plot will save a lot of fuel and time, but it's difficult to start. I will write below a spoiler, although, if you are patient, you won't need it. But, of course, being patient may make you lose the game.

Arilou plot: Look for the star that only appears from the 18th to the 20th of each month.
Mycon plot: 629,1;220,8

27  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Combat a bit too easy? on: November 14, 2005, 06:29:57 pm
Actually, I don't like using the flagship at all.

I never fight a Dreadnought or a Marauder with the flagship. Sometimes I tried; I won, but I lost 20-30 crew. I know that's not important because a good flagship usually has 200-300 crew, and crew is cheap; buy, if you use a Jugger, you lose 0 crew.

That's only an example. I always fight with regular ships: I have 12 different kinds as escorts, and I always know which one to send against each enemy. The highest number of crew I have lost is 5; but usually I dont lose any.

I only used the flagship in the final battle (when you have to place it inside the Sa-Matra), and I found it my hardest battle by far.
