1  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Project 6014 Ur-Quan Masters mod on: December 05, 2010, 01:20:45 am
I remember this project from a while ago, and enlisted to try and help back then, but after a long period of silence on the forums I drifted from this place. So far this project looks amazingly polished. Are there any opportunities to help out with this still? I've developed my artistic and composition skills for music if you need stuff on this front. Amazing work so far guys, keep it up!

Hello, I remember this project kicking back around a while ago on the forums. I wanted to help out with it, but things seemed to have gone silent for a while here, so I took a long hiatus. It's amazing to see what you guys have done with this so far, it really is incredible. I just saw the Lurg introduction video on Youtube and had my mind blown, this has some serious polish to it so far. May I ask if there's still a chance that I could help out or contribute in one way shape or form? It looked amazing from the start, and looks even more so now. I'm currently downloading the demo, I hope there's more wow-factors inside! Cheesy

4  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Technical Issues / IRC for UQM not working on: February 22, 2009, 12:19:36 am
Hello, I've been trying to access the IRC for th eUQM Arena Channel, but have been unable to get thorugh. The HUD loads fine but despite all of the different IRC clients I've used I've still been unable to connect to the server. May this be due to my firewall (using ZoneAlarm) or is my name on the ban list for it? I've not visited it before but now that I am trying to it poses a large barrier within development discussion on the UQM mod that I am trying to assist with.

Thanks for reading this.

Impressive, I really think that this is going to do well. Is there anything you would like me to help out with in particular at this moment?

The Arena Chatroom doesn't seem to want to co-operate with me. Do you still have that Yahoo account? Shocked

Here, I'll contribute as much as I can to this mod, do you have AIM or MSN for this? Tongue

*In absolute glee at this moment*
8  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Fan-made Star Control sequel - role descriptions on: January 25, 2009, 12:53:22 pm
If there are new species in this game, perhaps these species should be drawn from the community? That would enable a greater sense of interaction on their behalf, increasing the motivation to try and spread the word around, perhaps

What about Gaidens aswell? Games that although set in the same universe do not alter witht he main storyline, perhaps secret operations or following a minor character, etc etc? Just firing ideas up here.

I just found it curious as to how those themes actually overlap one another really well.

Also, Dan Nicholson wrote the Arilou theme, wheras Eric Berge wrote the Orz theme, so the similarities doesn't have anything to do with the same artist. It's a coincidence I'm sure, but a neat one.

It appears that if you play the Arilou and the Orz theme together, it fits pretty well, almost too well. They have the same Tempo, but the fact that the melodies are in tune with one another is pretty intriguing, isn't it? Perhaps this is a nod to the Orz's true identity? Consipiracy theories are fun :p.

I can provide Music, Graphics, Script Writting, Sound Effects, Game Design and Beta Testing. I Can't program really though, so I can't help on that field Sad.

It's great to see someone taking on this project, do you have a website yet for it?
12  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Fjorn Theme WIP (I can't stop making frungy) on: January 12, 2009, 08:29:01 pm
Rhey're just a species I devised for Star Control: Timwarp when I was working on that project. \I had always been meaning to make a theme for them and post it up but hadn't done so untill recently. It's really just original music for a fan-based species.

Ahoy again, I don't often post here unless I have something to contribute. A while ago I worked on some themes for the MRNMRHRM and the Chenjesu races but unfortunately couldn't convert them to .mod type files. Recently I have been working with the samples again and have managed to convert a song I was working on into a .it digital music file. Unfortunately the conversion is far from perfect, but all the samples used are existant within the Star Control 2 Game.

Here is the MP3, converted straight from Fruity Loops

And the .it version of the track

I hope this sounds okay with you guys! Shocked.

EDIT: I managed to make a song about a geographic formation instead of the Fjorn race, oh snap. Renamed on the title, however the song name isn't altered yet, sorry! D:

As dire as this action might be, the game itself isn't horrid. It's bland, sure, but within a 4 day deadline it is still impressive, albeit more could have been added to it than what is currently in (also, sound samples are glitchy). Atari have never been very good with developers, ever since their 2600 days, when they wouldn't credit individual programmers on games. I wonder what TfB think on this matter.

Hell, it might actually boost the chances of them making a comeback, what with them trying to keep control over the name. Someone is bound to write about this eventually. Infact it might be a good idea to inform the Kotaku staff about this, they'd sure as hell post about this on their blog (they did so with the Iranian properganda posters).
