Also available from Star Control Sounds page Smiley

Hmm, no idea about Kris Hauser I'm afraid, but I believe Toni still lurks occasionally on the EFnet #starcontrol channel under the name of X-Viila. Barak used to lurk there too, but I haven't seen him there for ages, although I will freely admit I'm massively out of touch there!

Last I heard at SB Gabooz was no longer with us. Sad

Sa-Matra.net seems to have gone splat

Whoops!

Fixed.
4  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: Your Nickname's Origin? on: April 15, 2007, 03:25:33 pm
Mine came from the principal Ur-Quan antagonist in the awful Star Control novel.  Tongue

I'd originally picked it as the name of a MUD character back in Feb '98 - I'd never had an online nickname before, so just chose one based on what I was reading at the time! (Here's the character if you're curious, complete with obligatory SC quote at the bottom Smiley)

I didn't really think I'd ever use it for anything outside of the MUD, but soon I began to re-use it on message boards such as Spacebattles and again for things like the creator chat IRC session... eventually it just stuck, and now I use it for nearly all my on-line escapades Smiley
5  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Groombridge, Star Control trademark etc. on: March 25, 2007, 05:28:51 pm
The only place I can remember ever seeing the Groombridge art was on Yukki's now defunct Magic Box site.

The best I can find is this page from the Wayback machine - hope it'll do! Smiley

Quote from: Trade Master Greenish
How nice to see you again, Captain.
Before we go on, I have a small announcement.
As you may know, in our travels throughout the galaxy
we Melnorme have found many strange and interesting alien artifacts.
One of these devices is the MetaChron, a kind of trans-time alarm system.
In a nutshell, it warns me of future dangers by predicting its own demise
which is most likely linked to my own well being, since I keep it under my pillow.
The unit is a small pyramid and, when all is well, white in color.
But if we are proceeding along a timeline which will eventually result in the destruction of the MetaChron
the unit slowly darkens. Presumably, it will be destroyed at the same time as it turns completely black.
When we first entered this region of space, the MetaChron was white.
Now it is light gray.
At its present rate of change, something will destroy the MetaChron
in the early part of the year 2159.
In order to avoid this unpleasantness, we may be leaving just before this time
so if you have business you wish to conduct with us
I suggest you do so before January 2159, or February at the latest.

Dawn of War. It's fun Smiley
8  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: this is how you *dance* on: January 19, 2007, 01:39:24 am
how did you find it? I did a google search of archive.org but couldn't find anything...

There used to be a link to it on the Pages of Now & Forever's links page, but unfortunately that section is not working properly at the moment. So I just looked up an archived copy of PoNaF back from when the links page was actually working, and found it in there Smiley

Shame the 'New Recruits' link doesn't work though Sad

Best I could dredge up was this, from the good old Wayback Machine.

The site images don't work though.
10  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Star Control Story on: December 26, 2006, 07:39:03 pm
But are these collections complete? Do these lines come from the PC version of SC2, or from UQM?
One could always just look at the dialog files from UQM.

The Sa-Matra.net quotes all came from the PC version of the game, back from when Mudry was hacking out all the contents of the PKG files several years ago, except for the Yehat Rebel quotes, which were added much later and came from the 3DO version. Smiley
11  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Technical Issues / Re: Bug in the forum... on: October 10, 2006, 01:23:37 am
I get this error too, with both IE6 and Firefox under Win98SE.

Must be a Kohr-Ah thing. Smiley
12  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: Webcomics on: August 07, 2006, 11:48:03 pm
Hrm, I suppose the only two comics I regularly keep up with nowadays are User Friendly (which I found out about via the #starcontrol IRC channel) and The Order Of The Stick, which I found out about via the PoNaF boards.  Smiley

Ahh, what would I do without Star Control eh?  Grin
13  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: June is officially "End Boss Month" on: June 06, 2006, 09:36:25 pm
This is quite fun, actually... Smiley

14  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: June is officially "End Boss Month" on: June 05, 2006, 01:27:26 am
A moment of Commodore 64 'Turrican' nostalgia Grin

*edit* Or, at a more reasonable size... *edit*
