the Chmmr, while undoubtedly great ships against the rest of the Hierarchy couldn't really defeat the Sa-Matra anyway, so what's the point of merging at all?

Maybe the current Avatar isn't what the Chenjesu and the Mmrnmhrm originally planned, but what they ended up with, when the process was accelerated with the sun device.

Just because you suck at Melee, doesn't mean the game is poorly coded.

But the other ships do it too. I killed loads of K'tangs with an Earthling Cruiser  because they just flew away from me and dropped mines.

The Melnorme continues:

Quote
I believe you call their star Delta Vulpeculae. Their home was a moon revolving about the second planet.

This is where you find the Taalo shield, so it's definitely their homeworld.

(...)so they ordered the remaining eleven races of the Milieu to attack and destroy the Taalo home planet.
This planet was one of the few Milieu worlds located in this region of space.

Says the Melnorme. The rest of the Milieu, including the Ur-Quan, were from other parts of the galaxy.

I think this is the chronology of the defeat of the Alliance (according to the dialogues with the Syreen, the Chmmr, and the Melnorme):

Most of the Chenjesu and Mmrnmhrm fleets are destroyed by the Ur-Quan.
The Chenjesu and the Mmrnmhrm decide to surrender and to go under a slave shield. They send a message to the Humans, recommending that they do the same.
The Chenjesu homeworld and Earth are slave-shielded. The Arilou leave the Alliance because the Humans no longer need their protection.
The Yehat and the Shofixti retreat to their homeworlds, leaving the Syreen alone.
The Ur-Quan armada encounters the helpless Syreen, who then surrender.
The Yehat Queen forces the Yehat to join the Hierarchy as battle thralls.
The Shofixti blow up their sun.

Commander Hayes tells you pretty thoroughly the order in which the Ur-Quan conquered the battle thralls:

1. Thraddash
2. Umgah
3. Ilwrath
4. Spathi
5. Androsynth
6. VUX
7. Mycon
8. Yehat

He also mentions that the Ur-Quan attacked the weaker aliens first, and the stronger ones later, when they had more power.

The Umgah weren't too happy either. They couldn't make all the jokes they wanted to because of the slave laws.

On the other hand there's the Arilou, who thought the slave shield over Earth was one of the best things that had ever happened to humans.

You can't just do a straight MP3 to MOD conversion.
You could, in theory, convert an MP3 to a MOD, but it's really pointless. You would have to convert the MP3 to a WAV (which would be something like 30 to 50 mB in size) and then create a MOD with the WAV as the only instrument.

It seems to me that the in-game MOD player can't decently play any MODs more advanced than the original ones. I converted some 8-channel XMs with 16-bit samples to MODs and they sounded terrible in the game.
8  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Fastest Ship in SC2? on: December 15, 2002, 01:45:15 pm
Actually, the Pkunk Fury at top speed is a bit faster than the Guardian in comet form. The Guardian and the Slylandro Probe are just as fast, this is easy to see if they are both controlled by keyboard.

The fastest thing in the game, though, is the Umgah, when it uses its special reverse. The best source for this kind of information can be dowloaded here, it's even based on the 3DO version.

I think you have to take the egg shells to Earth's starbase and have them researched. Before this, you don't actually know that they are products of the Mycon.

You're not doing anything wrong, it's a bug. The world you've visited (Beta Brahe) isn't the Mycon homeworld anyway. Go to Epsilon Scorpii, there you can tell the Mycon about Organon.
