You probably need to do some defragmenting or something.  This whopping 143 MB game takes up 183 MB on my disk.  I AM running NTFS formatting, but then, all windows XP machines should be.

Right, and after you acquire the sun device from them, use it on the Chmmr's homeworld at Procyon in Ilwrath space.  That should do it for you.

There is both.  They are accomplished by the use of command line switches.  I personally like to use this configuration for my computer:
C:\Games\UrquanMasters\uqm.exe -f -o -c=bilinear -r 800x600

This gives fullscreen, opengl support, a bilinear filter, and a resolution of 800x600 respectively.  I'll probably change that to 1024x768 soon.
