1  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Concept art or sketches? on: August 21, 2006, 04:24:35 am
Anyway, if people could point me to the treasure-trove of official (i.e. not fan-works) concept art or sketches that I've missed, I'd be super-grateful.

. . . Um, yeah.

For original SC2 related material the best source would be Yukki's Magic Box, which nowadays only exists on The Internet Archive.

I don't like to contradict admins, but that link didn't seem to lead anywhere.  Am I missing something?

I humbly apologize if this topic has already been addressed, but I've exhausted all the searches I can think of, both of this forum and google.

Is there a place online where one can see non-screenshot concept art or sketches of Star Control characters, races or artifacts?  The reason I ask. . . well, I could swear that I saw a picture in a magazine once of an Orz in a red encounter suit of some kind, kinda like a fishbowl on treads.

Did I dream that?

3  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: What do we like to do in our café? on: August 20, 2006, 07:33:44 am
I've developed a tolerance to caffeine myself, mostly because I drink it before work.  For years, I used to work temp jobs, so every 6 months to a year, I'd take a week or two off and detox from it so I could make use of its effects once I started a new gig.

I've been at the same job for 2.5 years now, and I have to make sure to remember to have some coffee when I get up on the weekends, or I end up all sluggish and with headaches and such.

The sucky part is that if I have a weakened Mt. Dew (at a restaurant, usually), I'll actually get sleepier than if I hadn't had anything.  I used to scoff at people who had that reverse effect from caffeine.  Now I know better.

Well, I guess I should fess up too:  I don't really like coffee either.  That's why I doctor it up with hot chocolate and whipped cream and all that.  I don't mind the kick when it's part of a mocha, but I don't drink it black if I can avoid it.

Coke is pretty strong stuff, as any good high school Chemistry teacher will tell you.

Yeah.  I was convinced when we left a chicken bone in a glass of Coke overnight.  By the next morning, it was floppier than thrice-boiled celery.

On workdays, I usually just fix myself a poorman's mocha:  A packet (or on an extravigant day, two packets) of rich chocolate mix in a cup of coffee from my automatic coffee maker, then iced.

When I go out for coffee, I get an iced mocha with whipped cream.

If I'm at a restaurant that only serves Coke stuff, I'll get diet Coke, since I honestly do like the taste better, and there's something in regular Coke that makes my teeth feel rubbery.

But for soft drinks, unless there's some weird exotic imported thing around, I prefer good old Mountain Dew.

Yesss!  Finally, that real-estate I bought on UB313 will be worth something, now that it's designated as a planet!  I knew donating to that weirdo fringe lobby in Congress was the right thing to do!
