46  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Technical Issues / Re: Help Installing! on: June 07, 2003, 02:22:15 am
I have no exact idea why the installer doesn't work (it's known to be buggy and hopefully gets better for 0.3).

You can still manually make directory named 'content' under the dir you installed UQM ('C:\Program Files\The Ur-Quan Masters' by default IIRC) and then unpack all the content zips there. If it still doesn't work, then you probably have to wait for 0.3..

Run the installer .exe, then when in 'Download options' screen, select 'Use local package directory' and give it the location of your .zips. That way the installer uses your manually downloaded files and hopefully works fine.

See bugzilla entry at http://uqm.stack.nl/cgi-bin/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=347 for explanation and workaround (it's fixed in current CVS).

Im pretty new to this.. but I havent been able to get it to compile either, in OSX.  Still on my Ibook I wasnt able to get sound working within yellow dog linux either.

With the new CVS build in linux the wav loader works properly... which ROCKS!!  Thanks for everything..

Thanks for testing, the endian issue seems to be solved and it should work just fine under OS X too if you ppl get it to compile (unfortunately we don't have any Mac developers on our own so until we get someone active and skilled to fix the issues, OS X side of things will be somewhat behind others).

Fixed wav loader is now in CVS; I'd appreciate if someone Mac or other big-endian machine owner could test and confirm does it work without problems.

Report results to bugzilla entry at http://uqm.stack.nl/cgi-bin/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=165

Yeah, it's under consideration and probably will be there eventually in some form. Bugzilla entry about it is at http://uqm.stack.nl/cgi-bin/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=291.
52  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: No ending!? *cries* on: May 04, 2003, 03:00:11 am
Forum FAQ is a good idea. If Lukipela or someone else writes it, I'll make it sticky as soon as it's posted.

Though this 'no ending' thing is already mentioned in the project status section at our home page, but as usual ppl haven't read it or other notes that this is still alpha and not everything is on place yet.
53  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Technical Issues / Re: Speex on: May 03, 2003, 04:39:48 am
I did some extensive comparing between speex and ogg before v0.1 was released and I chose ogg, because it gave smaller filesizes with better quality (when encoding from 'original' .wavs). Ogg is also more common; like Nic said, with it we don't need to incorporate yet another decoder into our code.
54  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Mulitple Concurrent Music Tracks on: April 05, 2003, 06:30:59 pm
Riku has already proposed that we should support multiple tunes for eg. hyperspace, so something like this will quite probably be included to official release. Actually implementing it is dependant on new resource system which has to be done first (meep-eep is working on that).

This is fixed in CVS version (bug #144).

Known bug, see #175 in bugzilla.

You have all the important ones yes, (at least in the content/slides directory in CVS) but not ALL of the ending.

We have those too, they just aren't in CVS currently Smiley Or actually they once were, before we re-extracted stuff from 3DO cd and removed all images which weren't used by any 'ani file'.

About TrueMotion etc, to my knowledge format which 3DO version uses isn't playable by any standard video player / codec out there. Meep-Eep knows more about that than me though. Our hope ultimately is to make a player for them ourselves so that no recompression is needed.

Now this is getting way too offtopic. Remember that this board should be about discussing UQM only Tongue Thread locked.

Thats exactly the part I was talking about.  Just wondering if there is already someway to do it and if not, if its next to impossible...Huh

We have already extracted all needed datafiles for PC intro/ending, but there's no code to play them yet; it depends on new resource system which has to be implemented first.
