61  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: feature request: Please CHANGE the music engin on: March 04, 2003, 06:37:58 pm
Sound quality default is medium, not low, which can be clearly seen with --help.

low = 22khz/16bit/stereo
medium = 44khz/16bit/stereo/interpolated
high = 44khz/16bit/stereo/interpolated/mikmod's high quality (but much slower) mixer

About ModPlug, I initially considered using it but it's not quite portable (there' s basically two different code bases for win32 and *nix, not sure does it work at all with big-endian machines, etc). Someone also said that MikMod plays the mods actually more correctly than ModPlug, if defining 'correct' by how they did play with eg. original amiga trackers.

YaBB only supports five different titles based on post counts. There's not going to be any race option and such, it's not possible with the forum software.

I think I'll now choose the titles from what you've proposed.

I guess Meep-Eep's humor back then was too much for you Grin Post-count titles are disabled completely for now. If I get good suggestions, I might add them back later.. we'll see.
64  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Technical Issues / Re: Mac 0.2? on: February 18, 2003, 05:31:52 pm
With current CVS there's some weird Mac-specific input problem (arrow keys not working, etc). We are not yet sure what to do to Mac 0.2, as we haven't got any mac developers who could help us fix the input bug and some other major mac version problems.

Same applies to PB project, it will be there as soon as some mac developer wants to make one.
65  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Alpha .2 on: February 16, 2003, 06:12:39 pm
Intro/ending won't be in 0.2 (well, PC version slide files are in content directory but no code yet to play it, as it depends much on not-yet-implemented new resource system etc).

If you meant ChangeLog, it's available via sf.net cvs web interface: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/*checkout*/sc2/sc2/ChangeLog?rev=HEAD&content-type=text/plain

I re-added link to it to the sticky post too.
67  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Technical Issues / ** IMPORTANT: DO NOT REPORT BUGS HERE ANYMORE ** on: February 04, 2003, 09:39:18 pm
We have now real bug database (Bugzilla) online at http://uqm.stack.nl/cgi-bin/bugs/index.cgi, all new bug reports should go there, not to this forum. You have to create separate account to use Bugzilla.

If your issue is more like "support request" than bug report and you want help from other users, etc, then feel free to write here.

This is a bug in Aureal drivers for which we cannot do anything; workaround is to disable hardware acceleration in Control Panel / Sounds and Multimedia / Audio / Sound Playback / Advanced / Performance (or might be something other, that was for win2k and my soundcard).

The one thing I noticed was that in OpenGL mode all of the colors are messed up.
Are you using 0.1 or current CVS version? It should be fixed in CVS (atleast I applied one patch for it once), but I've altered opengl code some more after that to fix another bug so in theory it might need some fixing again for OS X.
70  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Low-bandwidth version? on: January 04, 2003, 07:34:55 pm
There will be a speechless, movieless, etc. version of 1.0 for modem users (perhaps earlier too, depends how we choose to handle things).
71  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Technical Issues / Re: No capitals? on: January 02, 2003, 08:12:19 pm
Should be fixed in CVS now.
72  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Technical Issues / Re: Win32 build error on 12/31 CVS on: January 01, 2003, 05:08:53 am
I assume you both are using VC6? With VC7 it works fine. Does VC6 include ShFolder.lib at all? If yes, try adding it to libs (with VC7 it's enough to link against shell32.lib).

We'll investigate this more later with meep-eep and revert the thing if nothing else helps.

Does anybody know if a cross-platform widget set has been chosen for if/when GUI config apps are written for UQM?

We are using SDL with own widgets, instead of any other external libs.
74  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Map data on: December 24, 2002, 03:13:14 am
I guess you haven't read http://sc2.sf.net/contributing.html which clearly says 'Don't bother on adding "great ideas" you have for the game. Our current goal is a straight port. The code is GPL, so feel free to start your own modified version, but don't bother sending them in for the official version.'

So we won't integrate any gameplay-affecting and such things to official UQM.

edit: and keyboard configuration / input code rewrite is currently being worked by other ppl.
75  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Technical Issues / Re: 3DO check: Invisible Ur-Quan fighters on: December 21, 2002, 07:53:50 pm
Melee scaling problems are known and we'll try to fix them eventually (current routine just scales 8-bit surfaces using nearest neighbor method, etc).

It cannot be done directly with opengl with our current pipeline for various reasons.
