Thanks, for doing this project, everyone.

I tried to download and extract this for OSX, but I when I extract the *.7z file, I get a *.cpgz. When I extract the *.cpgz, I get a *.zip. Then, when I extract the *.zip, I get a *.7z and the cycle begins again.

How do you extract this? And why not just use a regular *.zip extension?

Thanks.

I tried a couple of memory editors while talking to a Melnorme ship. When I search for the number of credits in my inventory, it comes up with hundreds of hits on every integer/float type. I did have a little bit of fun manipulating the dialogue in real time, though Smiley Searching for strings seems to be a lot easier than numbers. I did find a string value for MCredit, but not MCreditHi or MCreditLo. Unfortunately, I don't know how to edit a variable directly from memory.

That's spoiler! let the guy have the thrill of discovery, he asked f or directions, not walkthrough!

Sorry. I just assumed that he was getting killed by the Illwrath at the beginning of the game (wait--is that a spoiler too? Smiley) I can see that being a tough battle for someone who has never played any version of SC before.

A manual is included with the game; it can also be found here.

You may find it useful to explore the vicinity of Earth a little more closely; you should have enough time to achieve something useful before enemy reinforcements arrive.

Have you tried the melee mode? This is a good place to get a feel for the different ships and how they interact with each other.

The precursor vessel is pretty weak at the beginning. The earthling cruisers aren't the best ships either. At first, you'll probably want to rely the Spathi ship that you get when you talk to Fwiffo on Pluto. Spathi ships are awesome once you get good at it.

Hello again, everyone!

I know there are a couple of saved game editors around, but I haven't found a way to edit the melnorme credits. Does anyone know how this can be done?

Also, does anyone have any info about what offsets contain which settings when using a hex editor? I checked the save.c file, but I couldn't figure out how to translate this into the offset of a particular value.

Thanks!

It doesn't seem like UQM is even responding to the gamepad. If I try to run the setup for joysticks, and it instructs me to hit the button on the gamepad that corresponds with the action, it doesn't even respond when I hit a button. However, the gamepad works with other games. I'm not sure why it doesn't work with UQM.

AHHH!

I see. It is a hidden directory and I am not root.

Hmmm... I don't seem to have a UQM directory anywhere. I even tried searching the entire harddrive, but found no sign of it. I tried reinstalling it  as well.

Are you sure that it actually creates this directory? It seems like the program is entirely contained in an  .app file. The installation is simply copying this file into my Applications folder.

Thanks.

I tried using the configuration menu in the game itself, but this did not seem to have any affect. When I modify the gamepad config using the in-game config menu, should it create a keys.cfg automatically?

Has anyone been able to get UQM working with a gamepad in Mac OSX? The README says to edit a key.cfg file, but I don't seem to have this. The Mac port of UQM is just a big *.APP file.  Does anyone know how to get UQM working with a gamepad in Mac OSX?

Thanks!
