46  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: Cognitive Biases on: November 05, 2017, 09:15:07 am
You can tell what is their true intention if you do intersection of several issues.
They have different arguments for different issues that don't seem to be consistent and make sense.
For instance Feminists might say they want to end violence against women, yet they support Shaira law or Muslims which treat women badly.
So from all their different argument you can extract their true intentions, kind of like how you would find the real wave form if you have enough samples.
This is not introspection, there is a fallacy for almost anything.
I could say you are using the fallacy fallacy. Which you view everything as a fallacy.

Edit: And sure, not all Feminists. I am talking about third wave Feminist, which also don't like the old generations of true Feminists.
The old Feminist will be gone soon, and then Feminism will be what it is now with young people.

A more recent example. Ben Affleck has become a sort of Feminist and some sort of pro women/pro equality guy. He has been vocal about it.\
Yet he had many incident throught his career of sexual harrasment, maybe even assault, and indecent exposure in front of women.
This is a guy who does becomes a white knight to cover on his own behavior.

Someone smart said that it's easy to say whatever you want but it's not easy to do.
So people could say all sort of things that sound noble, that doesn't mean they actually act like that.
47  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: Cognitive Biases on: November 04, 2017, 05:19:33 pm
Yes, I see those cognitive biases in arguments on the internet.
And to have people be able to "work around it", like recognizing when they do it themselves or other do it, they need to study Philosophy and be exposed to a diversity of... opinions.
I don't see how diversity of ethnicities got to do anything about it, unless you say there is something inherently different in people from different ethnicity that affect the diversity of opinions.
It's kind of like how activists complain that black children don't have black teacher to identify with.
Does that mean that white and black people are so different that a black child cannot identify with a white teacher?

Edit: I think that you are correct that people have "toxic prejudice".
An ideology is not toxic, you can think about an ideology you don't agree with without believing it.
So it's more an emotional prejudice than that some ideas are toxic.
I used to call it "hidden agenda".
For instance, you would see a lot of Feminist hate white men or hate the West.
So, they don't say it up straight "We hate you".
What they do is that on every subject matter they argue things(different things) that their end result is bad for white men.
This is hidden agenda.
For instance you could say that some Feminist pro for immigration from Syria, actually want it because they hate white men and want to replace them, but they would make excuses like it's good for the economy(proven to be false) or they are perscuted and poor(most of them are work immigrants and not even kids, 30 males).
So this is a hidden agenda that make them choose a different argument for every subject that hides their true intent.

It's like, you want an end result of B, but you don't want to tell why you want that. So instead you argue something else that will lead to the same end result without having to disclose your real reason.

Do you have an example of cognitive bias that is not an optical illusion?
49  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Cyclic Dimensions devlog on: November 04, 2017, 09:42:00 am
During the last 20 years or so, I have been starting making an SC2 like game with the same spaceships I designed decades ago.
I always stopped in the middle when thinking I have a better game idea to make, as SC2 like game was the default game I would make to learn new things.
Now I think I want to actually finish this game.
I have learned Unity so no cumbersome C++ deving will distract me from actually working on the game.

Here is the initial "demo" I have put on my website.
It's just a very initial thing:
So there is not a lot of feedback you can give about this, but you could tell me if you like the way I handle the physics:
(So this is more like a devlog/annoucement thread)

The problem is that you didn't even define what is cognitive bias?
The difference between the left and right is that the left is pro diversity of Demographics and the right is pro diversity of opinions.
The first choose to control people's thoughts.

Edit: Also not all cognitive biases are bad.
For instance sexual preferences IS cognitive bias.
There are people who say that straight guys who wouldn't give a chance to trans women in romantic aspect are bigots.

Hi, I have made quite some progress, though still a lot of work.
If you want you can play a newer build at:

You still need kids to socialize with other kids or to have emotional support from adults, this AI cannot provide you.

However, I think school is bad because it force you to bundle whom you socialize with and who you learn with in the same class.
Because of lack of resources kids are forced to be in the same class with other kids they might not get along with.
I didn't like school as a kid, I think kids could be really mean to each other, some kids are just mean from a very young age. Might be also because their parents are mean. And anyway, I don't think it's natural for most Humans, including kids, to like everyone.
I mean, I think my issue as a kid is that I thought of everyone should like everyone.
I don't think kids should be forced to be in the same class with kids they don't like.
So separation of socializing time, choosing your friends, and studying would be more ideal than just classic school.
53  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: Age related education on: April 26, 2017, 08:21:49 pm
I think lack of resources is a big issue. There are just not enough skilled men(women) hours(teachers) to teach that to millions of children.
Perhaps AI teachers could be a good solution.

I think school is just the least worst solution to the basic problem that parents(or other people) don't have enough time to raise their children.
I think if I had the time I would school my kids myself, I don't think school is a really good place for kids to spend so much time. It's just a solution for lack of better solutions.

Edit: Also there is a big problem in modern society that gets worse and worse.
There is a bell curve on how intelligence is distributed in the population.
The people with lower IQ have a limited number of jobs they can do.
The more technology and automation advance, the more there are groups of IQ that are left with no job they can fill.

Take a look at this:

Ok, I think fixed the crash bug.
Others reported it too.
I also added the option to load a saved game even after you close the page(it saves the save file on persistent files).
You can save the game in town btw.
(Thanks for the bug report!)

The error might be because you played the previous game on this page?
You should try in incognito mode, because your browser might have cached stuff from the previous game.
You are right about some things are not clear/not polished yet.
What I meant is that coding wise it started as a multiplayer death match/team death match game. Then I turned it into a single player ARPG.
56  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: Miracelund. A classic style ARPG with a wolfenstein like perspective. on: April 12, 2017, 02:56:38 pm
Well it started out as a multiplayer match game.
Now I turned it into a single player RPG. So no online mode.
It's a kind of a classic RPG with a story I made up that I think is quite cool.
Apart from being classic RPG in the RPG elements side, it's also an action RPG.

I have recently uploaded a very early build you can play from a browser(play in incognito mode in case you played my previous game, because the caching might make it not work properly).
Arrow keys and A and D to walk
Space bar to attack.
Mouse click to skip dialogs and select a choice in the dialog.

This is a kind of a devlog(hope it's allowed here) about an RPG game I am making in unity.
It's a fantasy RPG so I am not sure you are interested having this on these forums, as it's not in space...

I am making the artwork myself. It's with my own style, I think it's kind of super cute pixel art.

Since many things are not final yet here are some of the latest screenshots with the new perspective I am trying out:

Here are some of the older screensthos:

Cool, thanks for the heads up!
59  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: Star Control physics? on: March 26, 2017, 03:26:39 pm
I have stopped working on this game for now.
It was partially for learning purpose.
I am now working on a new unity game, but it's a fantasy RPG.
I will post it in the general forum.
(I might continue this game at some point thoguh).
60  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: Automatic Deception Detection Algorithms on: March 26, 2017, 03:25:28 pm
Not everything can be verified?
How can you verify something you don't have any good source on it?
Was Snowden a lier?
Not all information is public.
This could verify it against existing information, it doesn't detect deception it just detects if a more reliable source exist that counter it.
