I'll do this just for fun (haven't been hanging around the forums for quite some time, just dropped in to check some threads) Nathan = Locke Anne = Celes Tarant = Setzer Hans = Edgar Franz = Sabin (heheh, Hans and Franz) Boris = Strago Artmis = Shadow (Apollo's sister from greek mythology) Natasha = Relm Inigo = Cyan Lisa = Terra Goku = Gau Odo, Stan = Gogo, Umaro (Not necessarily in that order) Ralph = Mog Only names I ever change in FF3: Edgar -> Niahak (Favorite character) Shadow -> Sabre That was fun. Thanks for the opportunity

Actually, I thought the copyright was extended to 90 some years from the creator's death... Which would mean that if somebody wrote a book when they were 20 and lived to 100 (not impossible, certainly) then the copyright would have lasted for a total of 170 years. An awfully long time... The problem is that debating on the 'best' length of copyright isn't going to change anything, really. :-/

Also, I don't think you can technically get the DOS version for free... although I really don't know exactlywhat TFB released as open source, I may be wrong about this... I'm pretty sure you're correct. A year ago I bought SC2 off the Accolade site. I don't know if it's still up but I think I would've gotten gyped out of $15... If only SC2 weren't worth it.

Counterstrike is the most hated game for me as well. The other players are all jerks and cheats for one thing, and the game isn't anywhere near good enough to deserve all the play it gets. I'm sorry I wasted half an hour of my life trying it out.
If you try it on a good server where people don't say "OMFG BS YOU NSI HAXOR!!!!1" you might be surprised at how fun it is. Soon after I started playing CS, I joined a clan with that in mind, to create a server with maturity and that had a goal of just enjoying the teamplay etc. Actually a completely different game. I only play about an hour every third day or so, but if you are ensured of a mature playing experience it's pretty fun.

I enjoy just about any console RPG as long as it keeps me interested. Played FF1-9, japanese-only excluded except 5, and I have to say 3/6 is the best. 8 was the worst but it's on a rebound... I hope. Might play 10 soon. Suikoden Series, own all three, beat all three with 108 characters. Persona 1,2 Star Ocean 2. Also play Dynasty Warriors 3 (Trying to rent DW4 but it's too damn popular! One of those few gems that's never advertised but is still popular), Castlevania Symphony of the Night, all kinds of PC games (RTS, FPS). Just about the only type of game I dislike is sport games... they all seem the same to me.

1.What kind of poster you are I post rarely. But I read almost everything as long as it interests me. 2. Best moment in SC2 Hmm. Probably my first time on a Ruby World. Got lucky enough to find one without hotspots or earthquakes but a LOT of exotics. Hell yeah! 3. Favourite book ever (one or several) Currently, Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Luo Guanzhong. Overall, I could probably name a dozen... authors. I like David Eddings, Tolkien (Silmarillion is actually digestable the second time!), Salvatore (I only have 4 of his, but he's written a bunch), and a buncha others. Censored: I did read Nine Princes in Amber when my brother recommended it to me but I don't have the money for the whole Amber set. Maybe I can borrow it from my brother. 4. One hobby Reading's always fun. Oh, and of course computer games. I occasionally ski, but this has been a crappy year :/ 5. What you are/want to become in the real world. Well, I'm a High School senior with 20 some odd days to choose where to go to school. I'm thinking I'll go where my brother goes but I'm gonna visit the possible ones soon. 6. A fun fact about yourselves. Uhh... Fun? I drink only generic pop, except when brands can't be avoided. 7. Anything else that feels valid and important Frungy sounds like it's really fun.

Maybe some Precursors got addicted to it (or a subspecies of Precursors) and then died out. After all, they probably didn't think of it as a weapon. To them it might've had the same effect as drugs have on humans. I don't remember exactly what the Starbase Cmdr says when you bring it to him... something about it attuning itself to certain wavelengths of thought and then enhancing those?

DOS SC2: I had the same problem, but I eventually fixed it by getting a DOS driver for my Soundblaster. I don't remember exactly where I got it (google search is what I used to find it) but once I had gotten the driver and put it into my boot disk it worked fine.

Try the other Mycon world. They have a homeworld and a "special place". If you went to, say, Vatican city and told them they needed to look for an optimum uranium deposit, they probably would scoff at you or some such (but really, who knows? :p), while they might take you seriously if you went to the U.S. or U.K. or French capital.

The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Planet types (question about the source).
|

Well, I'm no programmer (though that's what I aspire to be after/during college ) but I can give you a good idea of my perceptions of what this stuff means. Cratered_Algo/Topo_Algo: Probably Algo->Algorithms, methods to determine what terrain looks like. MAKE_BYTE probably just tells it to turn the values in the area to the right of it (High Density, Heavy) into the numeric values found in the scan screen in the PC version. As for MEDIUM_USEFUL: My best guess, which is a bit of a stretch, is that there are three values for the semi-random amounts of minerals found on the planet - small, medium, large - which would indicate that this is for the amount (?) of mineral. That, of course, is if they are not all considered the same type i.e. precious metals, base metals. I'm not sure what type that would be, though, because I haven't played enough SC2. I'm sure one of the coders and/or a more experienced programmer can do a better job of discerning what all this stuff means. Oh, and I'm fairly sure I've never seen life on Oolite worlds... I know I've seen em on, say, noble gas worlds, so try looking there for something like LIFE or BIO.

The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Thraddash vs Illwrath

I'm an inexperienced player, and I was still able to beat the crap out of one ilwrath with one thraddash (admittedly, I was only able to do one trial)... I think the problem is, if you have two computers playing, the computers don't understand what the burner thing even is... neither side.

The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: uhh.. fullscreen? :O

In response to #2: I know OpenGL IS an option, if not in fullscreen. Keep in mind this is a port of a console version of a game; OpenGL has already been implemented as well as changes in resolution. In response to #1, OpenGL is required to work in resolutions above 640x480. What kind of video card do you have?
