1  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Is it wrong I give 0 fucks about p6014? on: September 28, 2013, 01:02:00 am
A lot of effort is being put into it, right now there are already things to do with SC2 feel to them in P6014, so giving some attention to it is worthwhile.
Will it be finished in timely fashion and get enough attention with Stardock in the picture? Only time will tell.
Chmmr undies are a mandatory garment, definitely.
2  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Star Control 3 On Steam! on: August 27, 2013, 10:14:16 pm
Other than being in space, it has nothing to do with Star Control...

@Kwaine - TF2's Heavy is also noticeably Russian. Rocky's big opponent was too, Governator's russian cop character, e.t.c. This stereotype has been used A LOT.

@FakeMcCoy - about responces length - Kwaine is a wrighter, most of the rest of us are not...

The whole thing is a widely used trope in fiction: "Planet of hats". It's where you take one human trait and blow it out of all proportion to represent a nation. In Shofixti's case it was duty. The resulting species turned out to resemble Japanese.
The Druuge are very similar to pre-WW2 antisemitic propoganda's depiction of Jews. You don't see me offended.

...Degenerate matter is real... At this point electrons tend to form a fluid rather than a solid...

Nice thread necromancy. Anyhow, REAL electrons aren't solid or liquid. These terms just do not apply...
5  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Another New Idea: Specific Materials Deficits on: August 11, 2013, 11:02:49 pm
Starflight had this material segregation. The thing is, there are quite a lot of real elements, add the imaginary ones required for plot reasons and you'll have a huge list to track. It just wouldn't be fun. Then, to make it actually fun to play, you cut down the categories. Starflight stopped earlier, SC2 cut everything.

You are misinformed. It is a good read.

That's just six orders of magnitude, still manageable. I have a feeling it would require significantly more than that.

The alternatives to the Alcubierre sound to require even more energy. Have any estimates been made to it?
9  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: Hypothetical or extreme physics questions on: August 11, 2013, 03:16:21 am
Calling it a lost cause after a single day of thread and not even a single negative comment? Someone is a pessimist here.
And, how is revival of the franchise relevant in physic thread and vice versa?

On topic - were there any significant developments recently with the Alcubierre drive?

I haven't seen it before. Some of them are simply awesome.

Sounds good.

I see both.
13  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: Earth as a 1g spacecraft, and change of time perception with age. on: January 21, 2013, 03:14:35 am
With age there are fewer "new things" for the brain to register into memory, making the routine stuff just disappear from registered events, which feels like less time.

The OP has a link in his post that REALLY looks like spam now.

Hi, guys! Moved to a new laptop and encountered a bug I thought was fixed - I was flying Chenjesu against AI Yehat. When targeting straight the shields went up as expected, but when the AI needed to raise shields against shards, it froze up on several occasions. It was latest build. I'm running it on Win7.
