1  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Another Attempt at a Sequel on: May 21, 2014, 03:20:15 pm
And with a single post, all my interest in this immediately vanished. Almost looked interesting, shame about the bitcoin.

Wow, I'm glad you left out the conspiracy theories, or else this post might have sounded crazy. Roll Eyes
3  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: Earth as a 1g spacecraft, and change of time perception with age. on: September 11, 2013, 10:08:22 pm
Lightspeed technology doesn't actually exist. The sfx crew and the director can make it look like whatever they like. This is the miracle of fiction. Ceterum FakeMccoy excilia est.
Yeah I really don't care that a director can make it look however they want, what matters is why they all make it look the same way because that signifies that there's a specific ignorance about relativity that's common. It's not a miracle of fiction, it's an emblem of misunderstanding.

*or* everyone's copying Star Wars.

My blood contains iron, I find the irony in FakeMccoy posting in this thread offensive.

I seem to recall time travel and other stupid bullshit being the worst part of Star Trek.

I would rather have a slow forum than a garbage heap.

Kohr-Ah Primat was superb at revival - she necroposted into all sorts of old discussions, and added new insights each time.

That's a good model. Find some old discussion, see if you have anything to add to it, and if you do, then add it. If you don't, don't.
Death's is generally a good model, but I propose a revision. Since you're so bad at working out whether you have anything to add, try this method.

Find some old discussion, see if you have anything to add to it, and if you do, then add it. If you don't, don't.

You obviously haven't read my posts or my story-line progress so far, and frankly it's kind of insulting because I already have 20 pages (around 100,000 characters) written from scratch, not to mention a few pages redone, and then literally 12GB of planet textures as well as a n SFX library.
I could make 12GB of planet textures easily. Would you also like to see my 50000-line program? Or are those actually totally meaningless numbers just thrown out to look impressive? I think they might be.

I can't speak for the people actually working on P6014, but I don't want your writing anywhere near ir. If it's anything like your forum posting, and I assume it would have to be, it would be low-effort, embarassing drivel. Now for the sake of everyone's sanity please just drop it.

C'mon I'm trying to revive these forums and getting no support. If the fans can't make a real SC3, stardock will and if stardock doesn't do it well enough or in enough time, the fans will, plenty of stuff to be excited about, not to mention the various mods released here.

Hoooooold on just a second now. Take a step back. What, exactly, do you think you need to revive a forum? What happens when new people turn up, right now? What do they see? They see a hell of a lot of topics by you, and let's look at what they find in them. You're spouting apparently random suggestions at nothing at all, accusing a non-human character of being a racist stereotype, being generally thoroughly antagonistic, posting walls of text with no concern given to readability - pity the common comma! - and you're doing it EVERYWHERE, throwing out new topics with reckless abandon and no concern for whether a new thread is even necessary. You are not a good poster, and I think you should probably stop.
11  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: If you were to make a star control 2 remake what improvements would you make? on: June 18, 2013, 03:41:53 pm
Hmm... what if there was more evidence of the Precursors on planets? Occasional smaller energy signatures, distinguishable from the "big" story ones somehow, that indicate smaller Precursor artifacts like the ones Hayes describes, stuff like dataplate caches, that then leads to resources or bio data. Maybe you could sometimes find thrusters compatible with the flagship lying around? So you drop down onto the planet and boom, a valuable speed upgrade without having to had to return to the Starbase. And if you were already at max speed, it gets converted into 500 worth of metals, say, or some combination of metals and radioactives that added up to 500.
12  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Check out my UQM save game editor on: April 23, 2013, 04:41:04 am
Wouldn't it be possible to retain the ability to load from old save formats, but remove the ability to save to any but the latest?
13  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Number of "home world" ships on: March 22, 2013, 10:18:15 am
Wasn't there a mod that did this, amongst other things? Was that Nicolai's?
14  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: Happy End Of The World™! on: December 22, 2012, 02:34:29 am
Well, mine's been and gone. The hellfire wasn't as bad as I thought, and the pestilence has yet to set in. Wish I could get away from the smell of brimstone though. Damn that Obama!
15  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Protagonist and antagonist side on: December 05, 2012, 10:34:30 am
The whole point of it is that it's the Ur-Quan's competing philosophies set against each other. The Kzer-Za said they'd enslave everyone, the Kohr-Ah said they'd kill everyone, so they went opposite ways around the galaxy to see how it went. If the Ur-Quan had then NOT gone around enslaving everyone, not only would it totally miss the point of the Doctrinal Conflict, they'd also have lied to the Kohr-Ah. Ur-Quan don't lie.
