1  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Other great old games on: January 06, 2003, 04:59:18 pm
Ahem...

MULE!

Also, regarding XP/2000, are you guys aware that there exists a Compatibility mode in these two operating systems?  All you have to do is right click on the file in question and click on the compatibility tab in the resulting dialog box.  In some cases I think you have to create a shortcut to the file and then right click on the shotcut in order to get the compatibility tab but I'm not entirely sure.  XP has this inherent capability but you have to upgrade Win2k to SP 2 or 3 and then run this command line:

regsvr32 %systemroot%\apppatch\slayerui.dll

This should add the compatibility mode.  It doesn't work for everything but it works for a lot of stuff, most importantly Incubation (If you like X-COM you'll probably like this) and Darklands (I'm shocked and amazed that I didn't (or at least think I didn't) see anyone mention the king of CRPGs).
2  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Is this the same StarControl ??? on: December 19, 2002, 12:32:42 am
A quick shot on google reveals this bit of info from the Timewarp information page:

"In the interim, Team Beige member Reddish has been coding a program called TACT, which will be strategy/combat game similar to Starcontrol 1 with a rotating 3-Dimensional map. Tentatively, TACT is scheduled to be completed late September, although this may change."

I'm in the same boat, playing on a laptop that is.  I struggled for a bit with this last night and I found that if you press and hold the spacebar and then hit Fn +, that seems to work.  For me anyway.
4  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Technical Issues / Problems Attacking Planets on: December 17, 2002, 11:09:41 pm
So, I played this game many years ago on the PC and I don't remember if I ever tried attacking a planet.  Does anyone know if eventually alien homeworlds exhaust themselves of aliens?  I decided to go up against the Thraddash since they were really getting on my nerves whining about their beloved aqua helix, blah, blah, blah...  So I rolled right up to the homeworld and threw down the gauntlet.  Well I was doing all right for about ten or fifteen minutes, I guess I took down nearly fifty of them, but then the game crashed and I didn't feel like putting the time and effort into satiating my curiosity.  So yeah, I guess it's kind of a bug too.  Anyone know?
