Two givens:  SC2 and SPORE are the two most expansive space games out there.

The following link makes the case that EA would be willing to licence the technology to make third-party games.  If anyone has played spore, can you even think of a better, more beautiful engine than spore?  I can't.

The first thing I thought of as I jumped around the galaxy was wow, i wish i could send a lander down to pick up magnetic monopoles...

Thats ok, your mk 1 looks FANTASTIC.

How did you do the rings around the main hull?

I've not put as much time into mine as you seem to have on the mk 1.

EXCELLENT remake of those craft.

I've worked on a marauder, and have early builds of podships and a penetrator.  back to work, gotta somehow meet your quality Wink
