1  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Why did the Mycon want to be battle thralls? on: January 23, 2003, 08:37:09 am
Well they couldn't very well spread Juffo-Wup whilst being slave shielded. They probably recognized the power of the Ur-Quan armada and just wanted to fight for them, rather than against them.

After the Ur-Quan went away to do their business, it's business as normal for the Mycon.

Keep in mind this is a Theory on my part.
2  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: SC3-topic: The Heralds on: January 22, 2003, 03:33:11 am
It's alright, I've love to figure it all out myself anyhow, I'm just overly curious.

Another thing, does anyone have any tips on getting SC3 to run on a newer system? I am building a legacy box just for this but I'll be getting the game well before all my components arrive. Just wondering if it could be run on Windows 2000 SP3. I have limited experience playing legacy games on my box but it's always a major hassle and I just wanted to know if anyone had any ideas or tips to give me? Thanks in advace!

Feel free to talk in technogeek speak if you want, I will understand it Smiley

Did SC3 explain whatever the *nggn* were? I don't remember SC2 every explaining a damn thing about that. I haven't even played SC3 yet, but I've wanted to for the longest time.

This may be a silly question, as I haven't played SC3 yet(waiting for it to arrive in the mail). But what causes the IF effect? Just travelling through hyperspace alot? Or does it happen everytime the Eternal 1's decide to feed so that noone can run?

Does anyone know any links to the SC3 storyline? I'd like to read it too. Thanks.

Well now that was quick work Smiley Congrats to everyone, that's so cool, is there an expected release date for the next build?
6  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Are Star Control 1 and 3 any good? on: January 18, 2003, 09:53:37 pm
The Genesis emulators don't translate all the sound correctly sometimes, though they do a really good job.

 I just found Starcon Collection and 3 being sold all together and got outbid by a freak who wants to pay US41.00 for the whole thing, damnit all.

I'm still trying to find places that sell the collector's edition with all 3 in it, oh well more searching over the net. Wheeee!!!

The Druuge are off to the far right side of the map, as for who they are, they're just a race of slave traders that you can encounter if you fly by their area. Fairly unscrupulus species if you ask me, but they can be useful in gaining of surplus RU's.

I believe that they run the Crimson something-rather corporation.

I've just replaying the game after 5 years so I'm still trying to remember everything.

Remember, part of all the fun is finding all this out on your own, go exploring, kill enemy ships to get some more RUs. Usually the Slylandro Probes that wander all over hyperspace are usefull for 550 RU each. They get more abundant as the game goes on, and trust me, they are a bitch to kill in the beginning, their electric bolt weapons get ya everytime and do a massive amount of damage per salvo.

If you want cheats or major hint spoilers, go look for a walkthrough, there are alot out there and links here to find them.

Load a saved game, there's no other way, I haven't killed him yet, but I did once on a whim. The moron actually attacked me, stupid stupid little creatures. I quickly melted his ship into molten slag.

Just getting ready to try out the not so coveted SCIII, and I thought about something. This has got to be one of the most discussed issues in the SC series. What the heck do the Orz and Arilou have in common? I mean aside from the fact that they both seem like parasites to me.
11  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Ever DREAMED about a sequel to UQM? on: January 16, 2003, 09:12:19 am
I haven't had one of those dreams in a while, oh well, time to get sick again. *licks floor*

Hum, well I thought the developer status might just mean you are a software dev guy in the biz Smiley My bad. In any case, good luck on your endeavers, I've really enjoyed the alpha test so far. Hasn't crashed yet!(Gotten about halfway through storyline)
13  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: a playstation port perhaps? on: January 16, 2003, 08:08:51 am
The 3D0 handled things alright, my friend has one still, I played the Zelda game on it the other night. He doesn't have Star Control 2 unfortunetly he's not much of a gamer. Loser.

Hopefully there will be ports to many a system, but it is a free project afterall. I've been looking for a way to get Star Control series again after losing it so long ago Sad Sad
14  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Voiceover / Subtitle synchronization tool on: January 16, 2003, 07:56:08 am
This is actually a cool idea on a sort of indirect way to solve this issue, though I'm pretty sure the team is working on a similar method, I think that's what it said in the dev notes. *shrug* I'd love to help but I wouldn't have the time. Though I've played through the game a billion and one times already. Good luck with this.
