Agree the black looks like it belongs. Make it the default?

I actually made a few different sets. One being black keys, I'll have to upload them to something like openart.org. I think it could even be useful for the UQM guys. The idea was to use it like  a font, so if you customized the keys, the graphics would change too. Also created characters so languages like Russian, Spanish, French, Portugese, Italian, Hungarian, etc. are supported.


Did you make 320x240 and 640x480 graphics too? I found the letters too hard to read in 320x240, so I made another set for low res stuff.

I got the impression the current p6014 crew want to work on a story encompassing an area a 2-3 times larger than the original HyperSpace map was. As life doesn't stop without a programmer, his absence seems more like an opportunity to flesh out the story without wasting his time.

There was items for the story was dependant on additional programming. There's no reason the ideas can't be downscaled, as long as I can get a programmer to devote some time to it. We made a lot of art, but until I get a programmer for 6014, I am content to work on other items. I am still working on other Star Control projects. If the community wants it bad enough, a programmer will come forward.

I've Just been looking at the updates for P6014. I'm hopeless at programming & art, but I'd really like to help out with P6014 in some way, whether it be writing dialogue or posting ideas for the story???

We're really not doing much on 6014 until we get a programmer to help us out. Our last programmer wants to write a novel, and is working on that. Sorry  Undecided

We threw a game together in a few hours to show all these flappy bird clones how easy the games were to make.  It was basically a giant middle finger to them. We made a few tweaks and to our shock and awe.... we realized we made a really fun game.  Even I'm addicted to it. And, I think these type of games usually suck.  Controls much better, and nowhere near as frustrating.

As you can see, we're not taking ourselves too seriously with it. We decided if it got more downloads we'd add a lot more to the game. So, as a fan of the game myself, I'd really this. Show all these clone developers what you can do with just a little innovation.

Just tried out the Mac version, seems to work just fine. Would it be possible that the fullscreen mode would actually fill the ENTIRE screen without aspect ratio correction? Now there are huge black bars in the left and right sides of the screen, which wastes a chunk of screen estate. If I'm not mistaken, OS X doesn't allow the tweaking of any aspect ratio settings, which is kinda stupid, and affects all games that don't work in the native resolution. I have a late-2012 model 21,5" iMac, if this information is of any help.

It's on our list. However,  the original game is in a 4:3 aspect ratio.  The game just scales the graphics by 2 or 4 times. We will need a lot of programming help to get wide screen support, overhauling a lot of the engine.  Not to mention a lot of graphics work. The game as it stands is not doing what we want, but making do with the resources that we have. So without additional programmers capable of helping us, the answer right now is "No. Not at this moment". Sorry :/ We need more programmers.

If it wasn't like Star Control, I wouldn't have even posted it.  And, no offense to the creators. But it's not like there's a lot of traffic on the forum.

I even helped him once move a fridge.  It was white.

I also once worked with a guy in Austin TX, who had a brother-in- law, who worked with Chris Roberts in the 1990s. Because Star Citizen will get mentioned by me eventually.

any chance this could be ported to the wii or 360

There's a bit of work involed in the 360. I doubt it will happen anytime soon.
I believe it is already on the Ouya.
XNA Urquan Masters exists, but it's just melee.
UQM exists on the Wii, maybe see if the guys who did that can port tbe HD game too?

i stumbled upon this yesterday, installed for osx, and have played a few hours so far: overall an excellent port!

truly h gem, the last (and only) time i played through the game was in '93 (i was 14).  my favorite game all time... thanks so much!

You can in Ur-Quan Masters HD. It's the cheat option.

If you don't want the HD graphics, you can just use the original graphics under the graphic options.

Yeah, this is just one of the hundreds of variables that need to be changed in order to get the HD stuff working to feel like the original game. Kudos to the programmers for fixing so many of the ones you never saw. I know that Jaakko and I spent hours on the ship equip screen alone.

My favorite was the Mycon bug. It would shoot its spore, but it only came 1/4 of the way out. So the spore would instantly hit the now bigger Mycon. The fire button was basically a self destruct button.  Cheesy
