Biflspud: Thanks for your comment. I'm one of the artists for Project 6014.  For me, reading stuff like this makes all the hours I put in worth it.

Syreen: I'm glad you like the Syreen.   I made the intro, the Syreen, and the Lurg. So when somebody enjoys my stuff it makes my day. Thank you.

No minors allowed?: I too want to be able to mine. I'm fighting for this in the next demo. Smiley

Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.:  The full game will have more in space, but right now it is a little empty.

Step 8 is profit!: If you went down to the right planet you should have seen something on the energy scan. It does take some exploring.

I originally gave the rest of the team a November deadline as a mock challenge. Well, they called my bluff! Now I'm frantically working on artwork done by then. Oops.  Shocked I really hope you'll enjoy the new demo as well.

I like the new background. I think the old background was a product of the technology at the time. So, like the Spathi background I decided to update it. But I realize I'm battling nostalgia and what people are used to so I also made the original background. At least right now, the new background is staying (I plan on having mods where people can download alternative artwork). Practicing clouds, and I thought it would make a good background to use with the mystical Arilou. The Arilou was a challenge too because the image was so small. People filled in the gaps with their imagination. I found it difficult to keep the Arilou friendly looking but when going to higher resolutions, he started to look evil.

I understand some people like the feeling of nostalgia. But there's already 3 version of the game if you want that (Star Control 2 for DOS, the 3DO version, and Ur-Quan Masters).

I'm getting close to getting all the comm screens done. They just need to be animated.

This week has been filled with mostly working on the Bio-Critters and working on Project 6014 (exciting new stuff happening!)

On my "To Do" List:

I'm using MS Visual Studio 2005  Version 8.0.50727.867

I tried that.  Undecided  Using /MTd  or /MT  It won't compile for me. I get a couple error messages:

SDLmain.lib(SDL_win32_main.obj) : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol __imp__setbuf referenced in function _redirect_output
../../uqmdebug.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 1 unresolved externals

Has anybody gotten a message saying "The side by side configuration is incorrect" when executing uqmdebug.exe?  It runs fine on my system but not on my friend's PC.  I figure it's something I'm doing wrong when compiling.

Anyways.  New pic. The original Hypnotoad! To spruce up the original (which just had a gray background), I added a light source from the bottom too. I could imagine the light pedestal being something to keep him warm.

No, I'm still working on the Syreen. You may be thinking one of my 6014 Syreen?

The whole game is getting the same graphic  makeover. Comm screens, UI, lander aliens, ships, etc. The Comm screens are just some of the most time consuming parts, so it's the part I'm concentrating on first.

Zenzmurfy is helping me out and  working on some of the ships.  Here's his Yehat Terminator:





But he's a pretty busy guy. So we're always looking for more people. If anybody is good at 3D, send me a message.

Right. Nothing terribly difficult. It's currently based on the 6.9 code base. I haven't had a chance to see the differences yet between 6.9 and 7.0.
