31  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Burvix 'Caster on: April 27, 2003, 10:45:50 pm
Your logic would dictate that an object should be named after its creator.  If this is the case, other artefacts deserve a name change as well.  The Utwig Bomb should be called the Precursor Bomb...  The Burvixese were the ones using the caster, so why shouldn't it be in there name?  Maybe I'm just silly, but your logic seems to escape me.

But what if it is a race that either has taken being cheated too hard, and become extremely violent, (Probably a race of a lower thinking mind, and is too angry with the Druuge to accept conpensation), or has no use for money or Precursor artifacts in their environment? There would be no way the Druuge could avoid war.

Remember the Burvixese?  The Druuge seem to have a way of eliminating their enemies and controlling their friends.  As they say, keep your friends close, but your enemies even closer.  When the Druuge wanted to get rid of the Burvixese, they just called the Kohr-Ah to clean up the mess.  Even if the Druuge got involved with a war, I think their attempts to strangle supply lines and economic ties would help them weasle their way out of unnecessary, unprofitable conflict.

It's amazing to look at these ship designs and imagine what was going on in P&F's minds at the time.  It's so neat to think of all the possible ships the game might've had.  I think this treasure box of lost game pieces is something every fan should take a look at.

Hayes: "Captain, we've transferred the alcohol aboard the station... ...  processing materials.

... .. huh?  What's happening?  Why am I so...  happy all of a sudden?  Captain, this strange liquid seems to be having an effect on the citizns of the station.  In fact, their sexual urges have risen tenfold and most have caught a virus we have named 'dance fever'.  Captain, whatever it is, the people of the station are demanding more!  I WANT MORE!  *gurgle, burp*  ..  ...  *hick* ... Have I ever told you how much I love you, Captain...?"
35  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: The Shofixti threat on: April 25, 2003, 02:53:14 am
Remember the old East German women's swim team?  That's the picture I get whenever I think about the Shofixti females...  I only wonder which ones have more hair.

Anyways, enough of this nonsense!  It comes to my attention that I don't often refer to people by name or nick name when I'm on these forums.  I often just quote what people say and am too lazy to type their names, lol.  My nickname is pretty lame...  well, it's just basically my name without the 'Sama' title on the end.  By the way, my internet name translated means: "The All-Powerful Master of the Universe".  Okay, so I added a couple of words in there, but you get the idea!   Tongue

I think it's obvious that the 'slurpy' noise the lander makes when it picks up stuff is just the giant straw sticking out the bottom end.  They get all the crewmembers in the landing pod to put their mouths around a huge precursor straw and then suck those darn things inside the cargo bay.

I thought everyone knew that.   Tongue

It seems that the general concensus seems to be that a remix should sound modern while keeping more or less true to the mood of the original tune - in that case, I think many of you are going to like what I did for the team.  Will be revealed in due time when they choose to, of course.  Grin

If it's half as good as your Thraddash remix, I can't wait.  I still love that guitar wailing in the background.  Sends chills down my spine.   Grin  I could just imagine a Thraddash smoking a cigar and jamming with his guitar.  Hehe.

I highly doubt that Accolade makes a profit on Star Control anymore.  In fact, since the company has all but disappeared into the big, bad Infogrames, I'm absolutely certain about it.   Grin  If you're looking for a copy, you can always download yourself a genesis emulator and the SC rom.  Of course, that would be ignoring whatever system of morals you may play by...  I would've thought yours would be pretty lax with this kinda situation.  *shrugs*
39  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Where is the Ilwrath homeworld? on: April 25, 2003, 02:39:25 am
The Ilwrath's homeworld may be pretty far from their sphere of influence on the map, when you first find it.  In fact, the system looks alot like a Chmmr zap-sat.  Good luck.   Wink

You get the illusion that if three Earthling Cruisers were to stumble upon a Dreanought, there would quickly be some backup for the 'Quan.  Not only would the Cruiser's bad speed keep their ships in easy striking range of the ion cannon, but it would be easy for ships to either surround or flank the old bucket of bolts.  I don't know whether or not the Cruisers would move in big fleets to support themselves, but their speed and tactical disadvantages more than make them easy prey for the 'Quan to munch on.

Geez, I used to think I was smart until I read this post.  Color me stupid.  I didn't know Jeopardy's writers played SC2.

It's called chemistry class.  I know, it's hard to believe that I of all people attend school, but I do.  The one type of subtsnace that P&F left out was alcohol!  Now there's a necessary resource for space exploration.
42  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: The Shofixti threat on: April 24, 2003, 02:30:19 am
I think I meant to say that all shofixti women may be female, but they probably don't act like the ladies we have in our society.  Imagine macho, furry warrior princesses like Xena, but on creatine.
43  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Chmrrr whiplash on: April 24, 2003, 02:26:18 am
Wow, back to the topic... the most fun ship to whiplash using the chmmr tractor beam is by far the Pkunk Fury.  Just get it started and then rotate the ship over and over again.  It'll keep spinning as the ship goes flying over and over across the screen.  Imagine how dizzy those poor Pkunkies would be!   Grin
44  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Favourite ship on: April 24, 2003, 02:19:39 am
I used to be awesome at piloting the Cruiser.  That was back in the day when Star Control 2 first came out.  I haven't returned to my old Earthling dominance.  I found the ship very useful against the Dreadnought, or at least a very timid Ur-Quan pilot.  It's weird, I remember using the Cruiser against most ships, with a good chance of winning in a lot of cases.  Maybe that was just an illusion... *shrugs*

Of course, its speed is its achilles heel, but a patient Cruiser pilot can use its powerful nukes to advantage.

If it was easy to do, then everyone would do it!   Tongue
