Indeed the "Fungal Squid" is done well. You'll find somewhat detailed (read: none) information of them here.
Well, at least all the creatures are there.

Most interested I am of Yompin Yiminy and Penguin Cyclops. Especially the latter, since they are so valuable. Grin

Huh? What's this? Something completely random? Okay.

I'll say 13th December. Yeah. No reason.

Yesterday I did read some background info about Red Alert, and the first one rules, though is very unbalanced, which takes away some of the enjoyment. Still the plot is somewhat fantastic, and has some potential movie qualities. Like most do, but they screw up every "a movie of a game", or choose the wrong games. Tomb Raider is a sucky game.

Okay? Seems like DJ wants to bring out the possibility to lie your nationality ... but why would someone do it?  Roll Eyes

In any case, I'm finnish as well.

EDIT: Should this be in the Starbase Café?

Damn I cracked when I saw the Pkunk parrot. Cheesy

I must say I like the right-most Yehat Terminator the best. The bottom-most has too many Kilrathi features and the upper-most looks like a ... bulk. Tongue Pkunk Fury look weird though.

I was actually waiting to see a B-2 Spirit styled Earthling ship as well. It's "cornery". And alltogether, "wing" designs have been popular.

And the Chenjesu looks too metallic for my taste, not enough crystalline construction. But that's just me.

*Bleep* Head a splode!

Those are ... insurmountable. I like every ship design (with more details, they actually look like spaceships), especially Supox Blade.

I also like the big mouthed version of Supox. Gives a "Gishy" feeling.

Those Melnormes look dumb though. =P

Utwig looks like an old traditioned samurai. Nothing bad at it, at all.

EDIT: Oh and I would like to see functional Zoq, Fot and Pik. Tongue
37  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: Star Control Television Series on: September 29, 2004, 07:20:15 pm
Farscape is a little bit like Babylon 5...
  • Crichton ~= Sheridan
  • Pa'U Zotoh Zhaan ~= Delenn
  • Ka D'Argo ~= G'Kar
  • Rygel ~= Londo Mollari
  • Chiana ~= Lyta Alexander
  • Stark ~= Kosh
  • Aeryn Sun ~= Susan Ivanova

Really ... compare them. Their characters personality match somewhat well. And I haven't seen anyone whine about it. Thus Star Control 2 would be NOTHING like Star Trek or Babylon 5 or even Farscape. How many humanoid races you have in Star Control 2? 4 (Humans, Syreen, Arilou, Druuge) or five (add Utwig?). ONLY[/i].

On a more serious note, there are some areas where there appear to be a lot of ships, but you _can_ fight your way though. When in doubt, I have a
rule of thumb....Kill 12. If they keep coming, run.

Give me an example.

We shouldn't *see* mining very often unless there's some special incident involving mining, and there probably are a lot of plot modules you can pop in for episode ideas along those lines -- random things like finding hostile alien life forms on a planet, negotiating with some pissant pre-spacefaring race for mining rights, a whole team of people trapped on a highly unstable planet that's about to undergo massive volcanic eruptions and kill them all, and so on. It'd be a great way to have a less centralized plot -- the random adventures of one group of miners wandering a strange planet could make for many an interesting episode. Quite a few grand old shows had some cheesy practical concern as a hook for interesting plots. (ST: TNG's Enterprise spent a lot of time ferrying cargo, or ambassadors, or important messages around; the Stargate SG-1 team spends quite a bit of time doing boring archeological fieldwork and getting into trouble along the way; and ST: TOS actually *did* run into interesting situations with mining in more than one episode; I'm especially thinking of that episode with the Horta rock-beast.)

Like I told in a previous post by me, Eta Vulpeculae (Androsynth Homeworld I suspect) would be a fabulous episode, seeing that one dude get himself trapped into the computer room and start screaming, as the others start to try to break the doors down. Exciting!

- Can auto-pilot sequences be skipped? They're quite boring, you should be able to simply jump to destination, if nothing happens along the way...

Who on Earth would skip the wonderful hyperspace travels? That music rocks. Grin

Lightning and flames are hard to avoid, but not impossible. If a planet is too dangerous, you should consider not landing on it.

A good example is Venus; it's full of worthless minerals and it's climate ranking is 8. 8 equals death.

43  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: The John Kerry/George W. Bush thread on: September 19, 2004, 05:12:17 am
Whoah... you sure have babbled all kinds of crap here. I might add some notes some you people haven't noticed. I'm not gonna join the conversation, I don't want to be labeled as a politician. Smiley

As you might know, some people on these boards are finnish (surprise), and finnish people are very critical. Towards everyone, USA is just the biggest spot to criticize about. Oh but you all knew this... I hope.

The next thing is US citizens. Some don't seem to take criticism well at all. Then they start threatening and mocking the person who criticized. I remember a scene at, when Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning's trailer was published. It contains a gag about Bush in the beginning, and some americans were ready to nuke Finland, just for that. Tsk, tsk, where's the tolerance?

And today I read some threads from IMDB about Michael Moore ... what's wrong with right wingers? Most posts were straight insults and threatenings. Gives a good picture of all the right wingers, doesn't it?

Let's not forget the inauguration day (I hope I chose the right word from my dictionary) when Bush's limo was thrown by eggs. And he's the first president to recieve this kind of treatment.

Also I've noticed most americans who use internet (and/or IRC) have a better knowledge of the surroundings and consequences. I am not sure do I even know a single american who uses IRC who would vote for Bush.

Give me a break. I wrote way too much. And even thinking of the faulty "democracy" of United States of America makes me sick.
44  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: Star Control Television Series on: September 16, 2004, 04:34:01 pm
I just started to think about this ... Farscape + Babylon 5 ~= Star Control 2. I leave the details for you to tell, I'm lazy.  Roll Eyes

I would imagine that the episodes would start with a short summary of the happenings between episodes, such as mining n planets, visiting the Melnorme for the 'n'th time etc.

Of course, the intro in every episode would be a composition of history and how they ended up to the Earth from Vela. Neato.

45  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Starbase Café / Re: Star Control Television Series on: September 15, 2004, 10:24:35 pm
A SC2 cartoony series would be excellent. My absolute favorite style would be what they used in Titan A.E.; a mixture of both cartoon and CGI.

One evening I developed one episode in my mind (hey, everyone has at least *thought* of a SC TV series before this thread came up!), and I came to the conclusion that the investegation of Eta Vulpeculae (Androsynth homeworld, I think it was Eta Vulpeculae), would be rather frightening if done well.
