1  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Official Remix Pack 4: The New Alliance of Free Stars on: June 12, 2013, 12:53:50 pm
Thank you so much for this! Just one question, am I the only one who doesn't get the new intro music to play with the official .UQM file? All the others seem to work just fine though.

edit: I'm having this problem with the HD version, it works fine with the regular one.
2  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: My addons updated for 0.7 on: June 19, 2012, 01:37:01 pm
It works now! Thanks a lot, mate! Although I had to make some additional changes to the .rpm file, as it looked like this:

comm.chmmr.music = MUSICRES:addons/3doremix4/chmmr/chmmr.org (why the extra folder, and .org on this and the following ones?)
comm.orz.music = MUSICRES:addons/3doremix4/orz/orz.org
comm.pkunk.music = MUSICRES:addons/3doremix4/pkunk/pkunk.org
comm.shofixt.music = MUSICRES:addons/3doremix4/shofixt/shofixt.org
comm.spathi.music = MUSICRES:addons/3doremix4/spathi/spathi.org
comm.supox.music = MUSICRES:addons/3doremix4/supox/supox.org
comm.utwig.music = MUSICRES:addons/3doremix4/utwig/.org (another strange mistake)
comm.zoqfot.music = MUSICRES:addons/3doremix4/zoqfot/.org (the same)
comm.syreen.music = MUSICRES:addons/3doremix4/syrenn.ogg (I guess it's meant to be syreen.ogg)
comm.yehat.music = MUSICRES:addons/3doremix4/yehat.ogg
credits.music = MUSICRES:addons/3doremix4/credits.org
music.hyperspace = MUSICRES:addons/3doremix4/hyper.ogg

After correcting those it started working.  Smiley

I wasn't able to check if all the tracks work, but at least the Hyperspace, Orz, Syreen and Spathi work, so I guess the rest will as well. Later I'll check if I can use this to change the Kohr-Ah music as well.

One minor gripe is that it gives Fwiffo's StarRunner as a track for all Spathi ships, while the Safe Ones seem to have the original unremixed version. There also seems to be no text line for the utwigult.org which is included in the remix pack, so I guess that doesn't work.

Is there a way to find out what is the "comm.something.music." for the Spathi Safe Ones, Fwiffo (I believe he can have his own track if wanted?) and the post-Ultron Utwig?

Thanks, but just to (hopefully) make everything crystal clear to me:
1. The changes to "* = MUSICRES:addons/3doremix/4/ *.ogg" are done in the remix4.rpm file?
2. After I place all the .ogg files to addons/3doremix4/, in which folder should the remix4.rpm be in?
3. Does the 3doremix4 folder need to be changed into a .zip/.uqm file?

So far adding --addons 3doremix4 to the shortcut gives me an error message "invalid option or its argument". Did you mean "--addon 3doremix4" ?

My addons/3doremix4/ folder now contains only the .ogg files from the remix pack and remix4.rpm is in addons folder. The three official remix packs I have left untouched so far and they sit in addons as well.

Thanks in advance for your help and patience.
4  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Technical Issues / Re: How do you change the music files now? on: June 18, 2012, 03:42:50 pm
Yes, I am indeed using Windows. It seems that I could do all these changes, I've just yet to understand how exactly it all works.

Seems it has to do with editing the .rpm files, which contain text lines like "comm.kohrah.music = MUSICRES:addons/remix/3/07_-_Kohr-Ah_-_Cleansing_Required.ogg" (that made me think I could simply replace the file with one with a similar name) and adding command lines to the game's shortcut.

User called Defender posted some help on his addons topic so I can get the unofficial remix pack to work, which I'm currently studying and experimenting with. Still I wish there was a more detailed step-by-step explanation in the wiki to help us who are not that good with computers.

Ok, so I got the unofficial remix pack 4 (thanks Defender), which solved most of my problems. I only need to change the Kohr-Ah music as I think Eternal Doctrine fits them better than Cleansing Required.
After opening remix3.rpm in notepad, I still can't figure out why not simply renaming the new file to 07_-_Kohr-Ah_-_Cleansing_Required.ogg and replacing it with the original doesn't do the job and just breaks the whole pack.

Any advice on what I'm doing wrong?
6  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: My addons updated for 0.7 on: June 17, 2012, 11:40:56 am
Thanks, mate! Seems that this pack also has the Fwiffo and Ultron remixes as well, sweet.  Smiley Looking forward to some of the other addons as well.

Edit: Ok, I'm starting to feel pretty stupid, but how do you make the pack work? I thought it would be enough to just put the zip file to /content/addons/. Needs to be renamed or something?
7  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / Technical Issues / How do you change the music files now? on: June 17, 2012, 03:20:00 am
Yeah, so on my old computer (which sadly broke down) I had an older version of the Ur-Quan Masters installed. In that version it was easy to replace music.
I downloaded many of the missing remixes like Yehat, Chmmr, end credits etc. from the Precursors website, converted them to .ogg and renamed and replaced them with the old files.
I also changed the Kohr-Ahr remix to the "Eternal Doctrine" one, and was somehow even able to make The Ultron and Fwiffo's StarRunner tracks play at the appropriate moments, if I remember right.

The problem is, the files are presented differently now and I have no idea how to do it all again. I tried to open up the third remix pack to at least change Kohr-Ah's music (renamed the file exactly to the one that was already there), as that is the only one of those files I could actually find, but all I did was make the whole remix pack not work anymore.

Could someone please help me out? Is there an easy way to do it anymore? I have no experience in modding.

EDIT:

Looks like all the answers are here. Tried to read it but it goes totally over my head. I can rename and replace files but this seems too complicated for a simpleton like me.  Sad

Damn, links not working. Sad Really wanted that fourth remix pack as it seems the official one is never coming. Still have to figure out how to replace the music for Fwiffo and post-Ultron Utwig though and I guess changing the battle music just for one race is not possible.
9  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Kickstarter? on: March 14, 2012, 03:24:07 am
Yeah, and in less than a day they have already made 50% of what they pledged for. Grin Really excited about Wasteland 2 as well.

Xenonauts, Double Fine adventure, Wasteland 2... This idea of fans funding the games they want is so sweet. Would be great to add Star Control 3 to the list...
10  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Kickstarter? on: March 13, 2012, 10:00:05 pm
I wish someone could ask Toys for Bob what are their thoughts about this idea. Looks like Kickstarter would be the only way to make the real Star Control/Ur-Quan Masters 3. I'd be more than happy to give them my money for this.
11  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Project6014's new ships on: December 06, 2011, 12:29:52 am
Scratch that, I just hadn't played Super Melee in a loong time and didn't realize you need to press enter to see the rest of the available ships. Testing them now. They look good at least. Also while playing the demo, I didn't quite figure out what those bubbles from the Lurg Prawn actually do?
12  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Project 6014 Demo v 0.2 release on: December 06, 2011, 12:20:18 am
Really liking the game so far, excellent work with the plot! The new race was very impressive as well, cool voice and music.

The HD graphics and new animations look great. Although what's with the huge chin of the Syreen ship captain? Cheesy It even seems to change into a smaller (and better looking) one while she speaks.

I'm not so good with computers, and I have to ask is there a way to properly use the hires 1280x960 resolution in a wide screen monitor? In full screen the aspect ratio is off, and if I have it windowed, the window doesn't fully fit on the screen, which is really annoying when I can't see everything I should (part of the planet scan is hidden etc.).
13  The Ur-Quan Masters Re-Release / General UQM Discussion / Re: Project6014's new ships on: December 06, 2011, 12:14:29 am
Hello everyone. I have the feeling I'm asking something really obvious, but how can I test these ships in the game? I played through the new demo, but can't find these ships/races anywhere in the game, also not available in Super Melee.
